The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it'll do even better in those areas, but for now it's a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod's strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

The elements will not determine the outcome of the Rosemead/Paraclete title game. The weather will be accurate. Will the reporting be?

Mead - BRING IT HOME!

That's what I'm trying to get across to my Rosemead peeps but they don't seem to get it, Angel Bec.

I grew up in Los Angeles, so, yes, anything below 60 is cold for me. And Rosemead players have been accustomed to near-perfect weather conditions during practice and come game-time. Such won't be the case Saturday night. As for me, I'm now glad I didn't land the job at the Seattle Times or Indianapolis Star. My colleagues warned me as an L.A. native I would have hated Indianapolis.

On the bright side, Angel Bec won't be taking his clothes off Saturday night. I don't need that kind of therapy right now.

My kids have played soccer in Palmdale/Lancaster for years. There are two temperatures there. Bone chilling cold that or heat that makes you want to take your clothes off.

No in-between.

Yes - I am a born and raised California so anything under 68 degrees is freezing to me. I have the utmost respect for anyone who grew up back East or in the snow.

DORK! Of course, it was cold. The sun was not up yet.It had been dark for 12 hours. Ask anyone who has seen a Jimmy Dean sausgage commercial; the sun's job is to heat up the Earth. Gee, the people were layered up to keep the warmth in. They were walking, not running around. Rosemead will be fine. The wind in the passing and kicking game will be a bigger factor than the cold. DORK!
