Rosemead football gets winter gear donated

| | Comments (67) |

"NY's idea of sending someone up to check the field conditions is a good one. I hope Koffler is wise enough NOT to let this become a distraction, just because the media sees it as one."

--Goldenarm

I have no idea what you're insinuating, Sir Goldenarm. But an issue Rosemead coach Matt Koffler had was the temperature up in Palmdale. I've been up there plenty of times and I reminded Koffler about the conditions. He was aware of it and was hoping someone would donate winter gear for the Panthers.

Koffler & Co. got their wish.

Rosemead football will have winter gear donated and it is in the process of being order as we, uh, speak. The athletic department and the school figured out a way to get them the gear and Koffler was ecstatic about that. For the record, the gloves (above) and thermo (below) are just pictures, not the actual gear Rosemead will don Saturday night. The Panthers will get gloves, thermos and jackets that surely will help keep them warm.

The cost is rediculous for the fake cactus, but it does look really good. I saw at least 2-3 fake saguaros at the Festival of Trees in Sedona. They are apparently wire based inside and covered in the kind of piney green that yous see on a fake Christmas tree.

I was referencing Nostradamus' predictions- not how he looked. If the wind keeps blowing - it may end up being one cold dude afterall.

No, I'm not gonna make it, too much work. I enjoyed the live blogging a couple weeks ago from the Monrovia game, was hoping you and FJR might make it happen again.

I'm never feeling touchy my friend. I went from being homeless on the streets of Los Angeles with my mom and brother to attending a junior high where there were metal detectors before entering school premises. Nothing anybody says will do anything to me =)

I was simply just wondering what you meant and I wasn't blowing the issue out of proportion. You can't deny playing in 40 degree weather will be much different to playing in 65 degree weather. C'mon, we're mostly all Southern Cali boys. Saturday night, of course, won't be Lambeau Field but it also won't be Los Angeles weather. And it was enough an issue for Koffler to lobby for winter gear, which they got by the way and the point of this thread.

And even with the cold weather, no way will I look like Nostradamus. The sidelines will be cold, for sure, but the difference between me and other sportswriters is that I make this look good.

Goldenarm said:

Miquel,

Just so you know their is no insinuating going on, my point is quite clear. Feeling a bit touchy my friend?

The weather factor as being layed out is overblown. THE LOW for Saturday in Lancaster is 40 degrees, that is the LOW. That low normally arrives just before dawn, not at 7pm. Game time temps will be more like brisk, not like freezing your jock to your leg.

Of course, the desert is known to change faces in a heartbeat. Maybe you will come out looking like Nostradamus after all. The sideliners might get a bit brrrr, the players not.

You media types are such DORKS! When in the cold, layer up. Ask anybody who skis or snowboards. These guys are playing football, not ice fishing. Sumler and company are going to be running around. They don't need to be covered up like amummy and overheat. Sleeves (normal underarmour), glooves, and no hoods. Where else is the heat going to disapate? Put on a jacket for a layer when not in the game. Hydrate. Warm up properly. The cold will mostly affect those not in the game: reserves, coaches, fans, and the whimpy media (who are making too big a deal out of this!).
