Steve Garrison comes out of retirement, joins Gano

| | Comments (14) |

Freddy Robledo was all over the Greg Gano hiring like white on rice and he's revealing on his blog that Gano has already assembled a super star staff. So who's staff is better, Damien's or Bishop Amat's?

Damien supporters might be interested to know that Gano already has begun assembling his staff. Former Wilson football coach and athletic director Dave Merrill, who guided the Wildcats to a section championship in 1997, is retiring at Wilson and becoming the offensive coordinator. Former Monrovia coach Steve Garrison, who took the Wildcats to three CIF championship games in the 1990's, is also joining Gano's staff along with his longtime Los Altos assistants Lee Fair and John Howing.

So much for Garrison taking over at Pasadena. A legend leaves the WSGV.

I like the style you took with this topic. It's not every day that you discover something so to the point and enlightening.

I ever watched great stories about doing small time but make great time. I was surprised, so I ignored them. But it is my fault, so you must not capable and follow me to do that. When the time was changed the ecosystem will be changed too. But one can’t be changed, it is the changes itself. Why? No more to explain that. Getting the most valuable person like you is my future lucky. The best time to do that is with my brain. Offline time can be bored, so why don’t you use online time to become rich together? Vacation can be good one; especially we hope that after reaching success, time we spent can be substituted with great time for vacation. I am sure that you are capable in doing that, so great people will meet great time for spending time. Have a nice travel with chosen one. Really wonderful one!

Thanks for taking the time to discuss this post, I feel strongly about it and love learning more on this topic.

As fer as which Staff is better I am sure in a 7 on 7 Game today AMAT would whip on the Damien staff by 100pts in there prime 200pts.As far as Coaching?I am not quite sure but if you add up all the years of experience Gano and his coaches have it would be astonishing.Does that mean guaranteed success we will see. Good football players necessarily don't mean great coaches either.Sometimes its just quite the opposite. Not saying that AMAT coaches aren't good.Just that there is no substitute for experience.Gano's staff is loaded with that exact thing.I know Amat has plenty of Play-makers on there staff but how many Play-callers are there? As far as first year goes Amat had a wonderful year and if anything they have set the bar again as far as prep school swagger.Props to the Staff and kids for responding. But it was still At Large berth and 1st rd.loss .So to answer your question I would say Damien has a better staff on paper we'll see if it translates to Wins. With that said I leave you with this....

wildcat626,

Be easy. Show some respect.

We won league last year. (We were co-champs with a very good Blair team, but beat TC with Williams Do). We lost a close game to Paraclete in the second round last year. It seems to me that Paraclete last year was a superior team to El Monte and Duarte this year. Same result against Arcadia and Rosemead this year and last. In other words, there is no reason to believe that we would not have been as good this year with Coach Garrison at the helm.

Let's wish Coach Garrison well at Damien and let's enjoy the current era of Wildcat football. I am very curious to see which new assistant coaches join Coach Maddox' staff. I've heard some exciting whispers.

steve garrison is a bad coach and for him leaving MHS was a good thing because if he was coach this year we wouldn't have won league or gone to the semis.
