If you want to know why Marshall gets no respect just look at their schedule. They have played 3 good teams and their record is 10-4, you do the math. As for Poly they are not very good. They lost to Mary Star of the Sea, need I say more? Maranatha and Pacific Hills are gone but so is much of the talent at Marshall. Marshall's best returning player/leading scorer transferred out. Marshall was blown out last night by Sierra Canyon(32-50)a team that starts all frosh and soph, a team they beat by 30 last year. Sierra Canyon will probably win that league with CAMS, yes CAMS coming in 2nd. CAMS will beat Marshall this year at least once.
I think Marshall has a great shot at making some noise. Two convincing wins over Poly, plus the fact that Maranatha and Pacific Hills moved from the Delphic League to the Alpha League paves the way for a league championship.
Renaissance did beat Temple City but leading scorer James Chen was out with a knee injury that game
La Salle beat Renaissance who beat both Flintridge Prep and Temple City, how come they are ranked below them both? Also, shouldn't Renaissance be in here as well, since they did beat two of the teams in this list?
Miguel, kudos and thanks for getting a reporter out the Maranatha Flintridge game last night . great story.
The game tonight (TC vs. Alhambra) was very good. They were trailing by around 7 in the half and tied it up in the 3rd, during the 4th quarter(down 6) the rams came back with a string of 3pointers and solid defense. Rams won it tonight against a very good alhambra team (that played against lasalle in the final of the lasalle holiday tourn). Hope you feel a bit of the rams magic miguel, let us know if you'll stop by one of our basketball games
Miguel,
Do you give marshall no respect their basketball team is 10-3? and the soccer team also deserves a spot over blair?
Tom, thanks for the redirection!!
bigfatfan:
Game is at Maranatha at 7:00, not Flintridge
I'll try to work my magic but no guarantees.
Miguel, I agree with Tom, the Maranatha game tonight at Flitridge should be a good one. two local teams with lots of appeal to Star News readers. Is there someway that Star News can get a freelancer out to the game to cover it??
Tom,
I'm actually covering girls basketball tonight: St. Lucy's (Trib school) at La Canada (Star-News school) tonight at 6 p.m. Tomorrow I cover Charter Oak at Monrovia boys basketball and on Thursday I might cover La Salle at Keppel in boys basketball; Friday I cover Pasadena vs. Arcadia in boys basketball. I really want to cover a soccer game Thursday so if you guys know of a good one holla at me.
I told you guys things would get better once I move to my new dig. I was just busy moving my stuff over and finalizing things.
p.s. What's getting old?
Hey Favorite Sportswriter:
If you’ve got nothing going on tonight you might want to stop by Maranatha for what should be a good small school boy’s basketball game. Flintridge Prep goes against the Minutemen at 7:00.
Glad to see you back, working and getting back to the prep blog. I was about ready to go over to Freddy and the Eastside as things were really getting stale around here.
