Football: No word yet on Backus decision

| | Comments (8) |

Temple City High School athletic director John Van De Veere said Friday no decision has been made on whether Randy Backus will return as head football coach. Van De Veere said earlier this week a decision would come Friday but Backus was not on campus which was why no decision was made. Van De Veere said a decision will be made Monday. I will keep you guys informed on the matter.

Golden Bear,

You could be right on the money.

There is a lot at stake and the board has treated it ho-hum, almost to the point where parents and TC supporters are beginning to wonder if the whole panel is plugged into some alien life-support system...which provides them only enough energy to breathe...not to react or respond. It seems fairly simple...in one hand you hold a Code of Conduct, in the other a review of "the incident". Throw them both into the margarita blender and see what comes out.

At this rate of competency, should the board conclude that Coach Backus will not be returning, Lord help us all in the event a hiring process must then take place.

As I stated a month ago, the best thing to come out of this...may be the formation of a panel to review this panel. When I think of the potential worst case scenarios resulting from their inaction/action...it gives me gut rot in the first degree.

Hopefully today some decision, backed by a coherent explanation, comes to public knowledge. A stench has hovered over this far too long.

I find this interesting because the school board just might not be able to get out of the way of itself.
