The baseball season begins today, so come back and post your scores in the comments section. Also, to get results in the newspaper, call 626-962-8811, Ext. 2233 or 2242. See you guys out on the field next week.

Kilbury threw 5 innings on Sat. vs Hoover unless MaxPreps is wrong, so I doubt he is pitching vs. Arcadia at least not as a starter.

Arcadia Vs. Monrovia 7pm.

Kilbuy only threw to six batters on saturday and struck out all six, I hope they will put him on the mount.

I hear that Arcadia will start their #1 Rutherford, but Monrovia is starting their #3. So I expect a Arcadia victory. I hope I'm wrong and Killbury throws for Monrovia. If not game might not live up to the hype.

March 10th, Arcadia VS. Monrovia At AHS. Everyone comeout and whatch this game it should be a good one. In my oppinion Acadia's Defense is the best in the valley. Their solid at every position and they have the best duo in the area, on the mount and behind the plate.

Any updates on the Elks? Like who is playing Arcadia for the Championship and other games?

Nope, st francis lost to temple city.

Yeah that stat line sounds about right especially those 10 errors. You try to stand on that hill when you have no D and see how many pitches you throw. SG has had 4 coaches in 4 yrs. I remember the SF big guys getting nubers and flairs that where misplayed. The HR came around pitch 94 but was legit and our outfielders played singles into those triples lots of easy stuff that our guys just couldn't get to (that's a whole other story). But enough about that game it was pathetic and no fun for SF. This years team is a 180 from last year. I hope we get a rematch. I believe SG and SF are 2-0 so far, so lets hope it happens.

Thanks and I'm glad I got a rise out of somebody. Good luck the rest of the way.

PurdueAlum05 said:

Miguel,
Why would you think that Alhambra would be good this year? They lost their 3 best players. I think any team would have trouble replacing a player of Noe Ramirez talents, unless your program is like Bishop Amat. I know one player doesn't make a team, but it sure helps when you have a player of his caliber.

Anonymous,
Way to talk smack and not even post a screen name. I said South Pas is good this, I never stated that they were going to go undefeated. Leave a comment with a name next time and maybe I'll respect you somewhat.

Big Baseball Fanatic said:

Sorry just a knee jerk reaction to all the incessant bragging day after day....

Does Blow your own horn ring a bell?

They may not be in the same division but geograpically they are one block over and I find it hard to believe everyone is so much better just across the street.

Arcadia is always the first to tell you how great they are!!

When you are DOMINANT you don't have to tell everyone.

Let your play do the talking.

Objective Fan said:

To echo enjoy the game, why all of the negativity? High School baseball, let the young men play the game. On any given day... That's why we love baseball, the best team may not win on that day?

Dear Gael83, Varela should have a good year in the MVL. Varela started the St. Francis at San Gabriel game last year that SF won 25-0 and went base to base after 2 innings. 3 IP, 12R, 10ER, 6 H incl 2 triples and 2 dbls, 5 BB, 5K. I think we touched him OK.

More importantly he threw 107 pitches in 3 innings in his 1st start of the year. Not the best recipe to a long career.

big baseball fanatic, arcadia is not in your league or your division. why the negative remarks? before you put away your dictionary look up the definition of envy.

Apache Joe said:

Dominate - Have a commanding influence on; excercise control over.

There are many definitions to dominate.

Arcadia is playing very good ball and hopefully they can live up to all the hype. (I expect them to do so).

Big Baseball Fanatic said:

Dominate:To control or command in an arrogant manner.

Yep that fits Arcadia to a tee!

Lancer Fan-
MHS Fan is right.
Why is MHS not in the Bambi Tournamant? Because there are certain people that want to keep them out.
Why does Crescenta Vally skip over your tournament and go all the way out to play in the Glendora Tournament?
Better competition. I must say that I'm happy now that MHS was kept out of the Bambi because tougher pre-league competition is how you continue to improve.
Good luck to everyone in the area this year.
I know we all just want to get better.

fan said:

i agree with apache joe, they do dominate. I would recommend that everyone go out to watch the Tuesday night game at 7:00 at Arcadia to watch a kill of Killbury vs Rutherford. Fight on Apaches!

Arcadia dominates people.

Arcadia's First Game vs. Gabrelino: 21-0
Arcadia's Second Game vs. Western Christian: 8-0

I hope everyone is ready to see Arcadia and Monrovia duel it out Tuesday. It should be a great game and can finally clear up all this BS about whether Arcadia is better or not (which they are and will show Tuesday).

Gael83 said:

There is only one pitcher in the W. Valley who can shut down Arcadia and St. F. if he gets the chance. Thats SG ace Michael Varela. Lets hope he gets the chance and things are looking good going into the week for SG at 2-0 against the MVL.

St. F. saw him last year as a junior and did not hit him. Just ask anyone who was there.

That Guy said:

MHS fan shouldn't be talking but their league is tough unless you consider a Division V semifinalist in Paraclete and a finalist in Maranatha weak. The other 3 are pretty solid as well. Just because they're not local doesn't mean they're weak. It's the second game of the year; everyone relax and let the kids play it out on the field. Arcadia, congrats on the early success and St. Francis 17-0? Way to respond! LaSalle's proving they deserve some respect and so are others.

Miguel,
If you did your homework you would know that South Pas has come up in baseball since Rob Hertel took over as head coach. He is great coach with a lot of knowledge for the game and it helps that he has a young core of players that can play. Ask any coach in the Rio Hondo League and they will tell you same about South Pas.I hope you show this team some love this year because they've earned it.

What are you feeding those kids at Poly. They had at least 5 guys 6'3" or 6' 4"?

Somebody at the snack bar said your pitcher and catcher are only sophmores. If this is true, Poly's future is extremely bright. Great game today.

TC won in a thriller 4-3 against St. Francis.

TC was down 2-3 till the 5th inning then we went up 4-3, headed into the 6th inning and a good job by the ram's defense sealed the deal as well as Mr. 21 Kyle Wilkinson finishing the game. Jordan Holiday had a very good day today at pitching.
