Baseball: La Cañada goes from first to fourth in RHL

| | Comments (25) |

Temple City coach Barry Bacon called it.

"Someone is going to be fourth real fast," he said last week after the Rams' 4-3 win over La Cañada.

And if you look at the Rio Hondo League standings you'll see that Monrovia has taken control with a 7-2 league record, followed by San Marino (7-3); Temple City (7-3); and now the Spartans (6-3). I've been getting some heat for supposedly calling this year's Rio Hondo League the strongest and deepest. By no stretch did your favorite sportswriter ever say that. I posed the question and it's obvious you have given an emphatic answer. But you can't argue there's excitement in this league race as we spearhead to the playoffs. Sure, I wasn't anywhere near the SGV when Temple City had Tucker and La Cañada had Stoner and Monrovia had McKiernan. But I'm here now and what I'm seeing is excitement no matter how you want to compare this year's RHL teams to the past. We should stop living in the past and look forward to what we have right now, and that's an exciting league. The bigger question now is, what game on Friday is bigger: Monrovia at La Cañada or Temple City at San Marino? Where should I go?

Thanks for the amazing info. I find these posts have a lot of information. I can't wait to get a second to impliment all these great posts. Thank you very much.

Zune and iPod: Most individuals evaluate the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light-weight it is, I take into account it to be a somewhat unique hybrid that mixes qualities of each the Touch and the Nano. It is very colorful and lovely OLED display screen is barely smaller than the touch screen, however the participant itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as a lot, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, whereas being just a hair thicker.

Great stuff, though there are a few points I would query.

Goodness I bookmarked this but forgot about it and now I am so pleased to find it again

Run your travel plans through Chkyrself prior to approval. I am sure he has an idea on where you should go.

It must be a lunar eclipse or something. I met a guy at the laundromat yesterday - who sounded like like The Stang Fan in the flesh. Only difference - he thought Muir's preleague schedule was insane, not beneficial. Turns out he played in the Watts Summer Games - same period as I.

The scheduling gods have been unkind to M-town. Personally, I'm going to Arroyo to watch the Gabby Eagles lock up another MVL flag.

Who me?

If Monrovia wins they don't wrap up anything. Monrovia still has to play LC again, TC, and SM. TC and SM have proven they can beat Monrovia this year. The winner of TC and SM will be only 1/2 game behind, with M-town still on the schedule. Even the loser of the SM/TC game still has a chance to win league because of Monrovia's brutal schedule next week.

Monrovia plays LC (Monday), TC (Wends.), and SM (Thurs.) all 3 are loseable games which means even if they win Friday. Monrovia can find itself with 5 losses by the next Friday. It's gut check times for all teams in the RHL. This one is coming down to the wire.

So if Monrovia wins don't crown them RHL champs quite yet. It's not that simple.

I would absolutely go to the TC/SM game. This game is going to be a battle. Plus Smith is out against Monrovia which plays into the hands of Monrovia, Besides, Monrovia plays LC again next week on Monday when no other RHL game is scheduled (plus you have both teams at full strength). Just my opinion, that's what I'm going to be doing.

I believe that the SM/TC is just a bigger game even if LC had Smith tomorrow anyways.

You should go to Monrovia v La Canada - bigger implications. If La Canada loses, their chances become less. If Monrovia wins, they wrap things up.

If La Canada wins, it would cause a tie for first and a tie for second.

Ergo, Monrovia v La Canada is more important
