Softball: Paraclete moves game, at La Cañada today
Word on the street is Paraclete had to move its game from Thursday to today because the school is having its graduation ceremony Thursday. So today's lone action is Paraclete at La Cañada in the first round of the CIF-Southern Section Division V playoffs. Keith Lair has an assignment at 2 p.m. but he'll head straight over to La Cañada to cover the game.

Mayfield lost because Paraclete is good at playing small ball and they were able to capitalize on mistakes. They are obviously a very well coached team and they play a very solid defense with good pitching.

There was a total of five hits for Paraclete between both games... I saw both the Mayfield game and La Canada game - off speed? come on now.

1st inning - #3 hitter solid single grounder up the middle to center.
2nd inning - no hits
3rd inning - no hits
4th inning - no hits
5th inning - no hits - 1 run scored on 3 errors by Mayfield on balls hit in the infield
6th inning - no hits
7th inning - 1st batter bunts, 1b on Mayfield misses the tag. 2nd batter bunts, 3B throws low to 1B and the ball gets away. 3rd batter solid single. 4th batter hits a grounder to infielder who throws home late (fielders choice). Next batter pops up to second. Next batter singles. Strike out, walk, walk, ground out.
total = 3 hits, all singles - not much hitting.
Paraclete is a decent team who can hit better pitching. The off speed stuff creates a problem for us - witness Mayfield. Decent Pitcher but one dimentional.
