When it comes to the catcher spot I would give it to Thompson he his 430 with 24 RBI's, in my opinion Bernstein would get the utility spot because he posted a 2.00 ERA with a 380 BA on a team with no protection. H.S. Baseball Fan, If what you state is true, Pitchers and Catchers are first and foremost defensive positions. That being said, Nigolian is the guy. Also his defensive tools helped his team to win league. What more can be said.

Toosoontosay, that is a good list, however I like to see Rutherford in that list as a pitcher.

Personally saw each of these players perform in pre-game and in games.
P--Covey (Maranatha) and Rutherford (Arcadia). Similar stats, both had outstanding seasons and both often dominant. Rutherford faced better competition but Covey has better stuff. Both gave their teams an excellent chance to win each time they pitched. The two true "aces" in the area this season. Both had terrific seasons.

C--Bernstein (Pasadena) or Nigolian (Arcadia). Similar hitting stats for both. Both have solid all-around games. Nigolian appears to have more advanced defensive skills. Bernstein shows a solid hitting stroke. Wonder what Pacific League coaches think?

IF--Smith (La Canada), Tuck (Arcadia), Yortsos (San Marino). Smith could make team on defense alone. Best ss (range, arm, hands), zero errors in almost 100 chances at ss, consistently made spectacular plays. Target on his back all season at plate, most teams pitched around him and completely changed their pitching patterns and defensive alignment, still had a very good offensive season. Tuck played a very solid and consistent ss for arguably the best team in the area. Quick, agile at ss. Lots of energy and a very solid and consistent year at the plate. Very good all around year. A real spark for Arcadia. Yortsos had a terrific jr. season at the plate, consistently hit the ball hard, real catalyst for San Marino. The second baseman was not called upon to make the same kind of plays as shortstops Smith and Tuck but did have a very solid season at 2b.

OF--De La Nuez (Monrovia) and Oechsel (La Canada). Outstanding power numbers for De La Nuez, big hits in big games for the Cats. Big things ahead for him. Oechsel showed good speed, arm, glove in CF. Excellent year at the plate. Very good wheels.

UTL--Popham (Maranatha). Fits classic definition of utility player. Great season on the hill with an ERA of 1.41 and an opponent BA under .200. Also, a solid infielder hitting over .300.

Coaches--Lemas (Arcadia), Paciorek (San Marino), Parisi (Pasadena). With the burden of high pre-season expectations Lemas met the challenge leading the team to a very succesful season. Paciorek gets as much out of his players as any coach in the area and his game management is superb. Parisi had the difficult task of coaching a traditionally poor program. The kids responded laying a foundation for future success.

Apaches what are you guys doing? talking down team mates. Don't be like your score keeper (Vallero), on two occassion I've been standing behind him during games and some of you should here what he say about your boys. Stay together always. As far as the big man goes, he should be ashamed at his conduct. Especially when he had a son on the team two years ago as a catcher.

Bueno a sophomore starting for Monrovia, is probably the best defensive infielder in the area with the following stats. .456 avg, 41 hits, 25 runs, 14 RBI, 9 2b and 9 SB.

Sanderson didn't even play infield due to the shoulder injury how can he even be considered for infield.. Maybe if there DH but not infield..

Apache Sectator, get real (fat man) we know your motivation. Lets just put your 2 cents were it counts. put larson in the outfield and let us all watch him throw the ball as we have. Huntzinger is way better and if you only saw Nigolian hit three teams than you didn't watch many games did you. Yes, you did make a mistake with Ruthreford vs. Tuck.

Firt off I coached against Larson and watching him in pre game against us he had a good arm and great accuracy on his throws. Second he absolutely dominated my team so i think he is well deserving of member of the all area team.

Huntzinger had a good year, but Larson had a better year.
Laron hit .426 with 29 hits an obp of .525 25 runs scored 4 K's 11 rbis and .542 avg in league
Huntzinger hit .348 with 23 hits and obp of .450 with 23 runs scored 8 k's 9 rbis and .297 avg in league... SO YES I THINK LARSON HAD A BETTER YEAR. If you ask anyone around the area i think they would agree as well.

As for tuck and rutherford they both deserve it and i should have switched tuck from a pitcher to utility so im sorry.

As for nigolian. the only games i saw him hit in were the hoover and glendale and muir games. Anytime he faced a good arm he could not hit.

How can people be putting Andrew Sloan as an all-area pitcher? He only beat Kutzer from Poly in a pitching duel 4-3 early on in the Elks tournament. A game which Poly should have won except for some unfortunate errors. The guy has been a cornerstone for his team's success, but I find it hard to consider Sloan an all-area player if he almost loses to a small school like Poly.

I agree, Pultz is doing very well this season. His stats prove that to be true. TC has a good team and with Sanderson healthy next season and Smith back on the mound ready to pitch, I am sure TC will come out on top next year.

although TC had some injuries for players that were expected to be on top this season (J. Smith and D. Sanderson) I think you need to give major credit to B. Pultz as he did an outstanding job all the way around on the mound, in the in field, in the out field and at bat...

Truth Said: that is my point exactly. Just because you come out swinging in the first round doesn't mean you will win the fight. At this point of the season the Better teams will prevail in the CIF.

That sort of thing sometimes happen in baseball. Arcadia played terrible against a bad team. The best team in the entire sgv Bonita lost to wilson which is not a very good team. It happens.

All this talk about which league is better and which teams are better is getting old.

At the beginning of the year, Arcadia was the best team in the area, that may or may not be the case at this point of the season, but it is all speculation. Baseball is a very different sport from most other sports as teams depend of entirely different aspects of the game throughout the season.

Some teams pitching picks it up a notch and maybe another school's hitter get hot and carry them through League and into the playoffs.

As I have seen many games over the season and in the past seasons, I have to say that top to bottom, the RHL is the most balanced and competitive league in the area. They have only one real bottom feeder (Blair) and any one school can beat another on any given day most every season.

The Pacific League, tends to have Arcadia and CV historically fight it out for League, but Muir and Hoover tend to be quite awful over the years. Glendale is not what it was at one time and the addition of the Burbank schools has actually helped overall competition in that League.

The Mission Valley League, frankly has been quite weak in baseball the last four or five years, where even their best teams have bad loses and tend to have early exits in the playoffs. Is there any good team in the MVL? I think Keppel would be a better fit in this league. Arroyo never has been all that in baseball, El Monte used to be quite good, SEM has one good season out of five, and MV has been down the last two or three years.

The Almont League, Alhambra and the Montebello schools (Schurr, Bell Gardens, Montebello) have competed very well over the last decade, but San Gabriel has had several lean seasons, and Keppel, well, has been quite poor with a coaching revolving door.

La Salle's program has normally been consistently good, for its division, and have been in the RHL's division in the past and even beat RHL teams in playoff games in the past.

Maranatha, has really picked up their program into a fine small schools program and ought to be a good fit in the Olympic League next year. That will give them a bit more consistent competition in all sports against similar schools.

The Prep League, sorry, Poly is normally a good team playing what really should be a D-VII League. Flintridge does not have an on-campus field, Chadwick is up and down (mostly down), Rio Hondo does not have the depth and ought to consider another league, but is very convenient for them in the Prep League. Poly is virtually walking away with the title because the rest of the league is mediocre, and Poly is actually down this year.

All in all, is Arcadia better than the RHL teams? Most likely, yes, but they also have a considerable higher enrollment that the RHL schools. Alhambra normally is a fine team that is well coached, and it would be interesting to see those schools in a match up. Last year, if I remember correctly, the Moors defeated the Apaches by one run in the Elk's Tourny only to drop a game to Western Christian the next day.

All the talk is quite moot, because the best baseball in So Cal is not played in the WSGV. I have been more impressed with the Simi Valley, IE, OC schools and even the ESGV schools level of play. Look at the semi-finals this season and notice where most of those schools are located. Demographically, this area has changed, and with it the level of ball has diminished.

Truth said & Pacific Fan... Like the names by the way. But I am wondering what the 3-7 ocean league Beverly Hill Normans are saying about the Great Arcadia and how they would fit into their ocean league schedule? Arcadia played them in a tough game and lost 5-4 and a week later those same Normans from Beverly Hills played an (sorry La Canada Team for the RHL) and got their Butts kicked by 5 runs. It makes me wonder who the weakest link really is..... You guys need to do a little more research and then jump on that mightier than thou band wagon. Until then you may want to rethink how far most of the RHL teams would go if they were in the Pacific league.

The kid you're talking about is David Maldonado, he'll be a junior next year so he should definitely be back on Varsity. If he can put on some more weight he'll be hard not to consider for the starting spot at TB. He runs hard between the tackles and has the speed to bounce it out and outrun the DB. I believe he played his Freshmen year over at Monrovia and then transfered to Arcadia in the summer. It will be interesting to see how the TB position unfold between Maldonado and Arnett. As someone mentioned in another post that Arnett is more of a scatback. If they can find a solid FB they should be set. Their Freshmen team this year was very impressive and shows a lot of promise. Especially on the defensive side of the ball. They got plenty of solid plays from their DEs and OLBs. I can see a few of those kids helping out in Varsity next year.

actually arcadia did have a key player that was in football, Tuck, so don't say they didnt have anyone in football. and they put in their back ups after around the 2nd or 3rd. i believe arcadia has beat 2 of the 3 top teams in the rio hondo league and i believe they would not have any trouble beating san marino. like i said before, i'd love to see that game.

To all those football fans out there, I kind of know of a couple of kids that will be returning to play for Monrovia but I wanted to know if anyone knew some info on Arcadia. I was wondering if anyone knew if that kid Maldonado, the one that was brought up last year from Jv to Varsity to play TB was coming back?

Nobody said that Tim is not someone to be affraid of but you said look at the numbers .. Well here are a couple that you seemed to miss.. Beltran 25 hits 17 games with a hit out of 22 with only 2 k's... Tim 12 hits 9 games with a hit out of 21 games 11k's.. You said check numbers well there are some more for you. Beltran is a lead off hitter less rbi. 11 of Tims rbi came in 2 games.You didn't even mention how you can even leave Larson off the list isn't he out doing his own teammate ?

I think that Larson should be in the infield over Smoley. Smoley does have seven bombs but he is hitting under .280 and Larson is having a great year. Or he can be in the outfield because i have seen him play both.

pacific fan, you're going to bring up a summer league game? How many Arcadia players on the baseball team played football? I know that more than SMs baseball team played football, where they were unable to play baseball during the summer. That game was pointless.

If the RHL is such trash then why didnt your apaches crush TC and monrovia. 5-1 and 2-0 arent very convincing wins to automatically declare the RHL trash. If anything RHL plays better baseball because we have half the students you have to field a team. If you had beaten the current #1 RHL team SM then you could say youd win the RHL. But by no means is it trash

I believe Nigolian is a better catcher than Brenstien, However I will agree that Bernstien will get the go ahead. Lokk at it his way Bernstein is having the best season on PHS roster. I can't believe there are even people out there that try to compare the RHL with the Pacific League. There is absolutly no comparison. The RHL is TRASH. Arcadia would go undefeated in the RHL. Be real people.

San Marino beat burbank. WHO CARES. It came after burbank beat CV and they had no pitching left. Anyways Arcadia beat monrovia and temple city. They both beat san marino. Arcadia deserves to be #1 in the area.

I've been around baseball a long time and have never seen a 5-3 game called a butt kicking. Burbank played a great game last night. They got the big hit when they needed it, they got the great bunt down when they needed it, and they made all the defensive plays. Kudos to them for a superb effort. Arcadia played well, just made a few mistakes, and was unable to come up with the big hit when they needed it. It was two good high school teams playing a good game, but a "butt kicking" it was not. Burbank has Arcadia's number this year, but Burrough's dad, when everyone looks up, they still see Arcadia all alone in first place with 3 to go. Good Luck to all the teams in the Pacific League as we come down to the wire.

Actually Burroughs Dad, i think Arcadia's pitchers did a great job holding the runners. Burbank had maybe 2 or 3 steals if that and a couple of pick off's that should have been called. Nigolian is a great catcher and has a great arm, and the pitchers hold the runners on great, but sometimes runners get good jumps and maybe there are some bad throws. i want to see you guys try and steal on arcadia "all day long".

I would love to see Arcadia get beat for obvious reasons. We need them to lose so that there would be a three way tie. So here is some intel to help anyone. I watched Burbank kick Arcadia's butt last night and here is how they did it. Whenever you get a baserunner you need to still/take second base. They can't throw you out. Its not that Nigolian dosen't have the arm, he got a gun, but their pitchers take their sweet time getting him the ball. I clocked Nigolian's throw downs between innings at .187-.202. But when I clocked their pitchers from fist movement to the plate, it was a shoking .242-.265. Add those best times together .187 plus .242 you get .429 to steel second base. Guys you could do this all day long. Good luck

Well, I did check it out and your right 12 of his 25 hits are from Blair, Muir and Ganesha. Brebstien has 5 2b hits and 2 of those are off Blair,1 off Muir,1 off Glendale and 1 off De Oro.

SGV baseball Fan yout list has kilbury as pitcher and he has been hurt all year so he hasnt pitched that much. It also has nakamura and Sanderson who are great players but are not having good years at all.

His name is Labib Damouni. He is about 6'2-6'3 280 pounds. He is a force on the offensive line and would've been an all-area pick last year had he not gotten hurt. He was a big part of the Arcadia offensive line.

I believe Arcadia has two other kids that will be in the running for TB. There is David Maldonado who came up from Jv last year and a new kid who I'm not sure what his name is. As far as the Stewart brothers, you are correct in saying they have a lot of heart.

You can't even compare Bernstein to Nigolian. Its not even close Bernstein is better in every aspect of the game. What he and Parisi have done with that group of guys is nothing short of spectacular.

The only reason Bernstein has caught so few innings is that he pitches when he doesent catch. He may be a good kid and eligible as a utility player but his not a full time, starting catcher, NO WAY!

That kid was unblockable when TC/Arcadia did the ol'preleague passing and lineman challenge at TC last year. He was about 6'4 270ish. He cost TC about $80 in torn practice shirts.

My guess is a kid named Rodney Arnett will be playing tailback. He is young, only a freshman and played 3 games on varsity last year. He is a quick, scatback with some good ability/talent. He will be a force.

The twins you are referring to are the Stewart brothers. They will be on varsity, although I don't necessarily know where they will be playing. They are tough kids, but on the smallish end of things but with no lack of heart and desire.

At LB they return starter David Schuil who played alongside Golper last year. Hopefully he learned from playing next to him. Don't know much other than that.

I know it's early but is there any word on who might be the main RB for Arcadia next year? How about at LB? I remember watching one of their Frosh games last year and there were two brothers(twins) that really stood out on defense. Do you have any info on them?

The Monrovia, TC, Arcadia games are going to be awesome this year! I am so excited for them. I'm very glad they are bringing back the TC-Arcadia tradition.

Arcadia is looking to be pretty strong upfront returning 4/5 line starters. They are going to be very young, but with a feud of young talent. Taylor Lagace and A.J. Rail will be the best safety tandem in the the Area the next two years IMO (with the exception of Dietrich Riley who is probably better than them both combined at this point as he could singlehandedly probably play both spots at the same time haha!) They are going to be fierce. Lagace will be a sophomore and Rail a junior, both played varsity last year during the 2nd half of the season.

Garret Tuck will be returning to play quarterback for Arcadia.

Hi there football fans. I can't wait for all the schools to start spring football. This way we can kind of get an idea as to what talent is out there. I wanted to correct observant cat on one thing. The kid you are talking about if I am not mistaken is De'Shawn Ramirez. He is a natural born athlete. This kid has so much talent that its such a shame that he hasn't learned to keep his grades up. As I understand, right now he is doing independent studies. I'm only to assume this means he will more than likely be eligible to play come Sept. If this kid can learn that his grades play a big part in his sports, I can almost assure you he will go somewhere.

I have a good feeling that Max Ruckle will be the next Don Roberts of TC. The Arcadia game is going to be quote interesting for both Monrovia & Temple City. I think few will argue. About what league is better than who. This should be clearlly an even playing field for pretty much all teams in the West San Gabriel valley, which includes St.Francis.

within just a few weeks after the hire - it seemed Maddox was already connected to the M-town kids...and teaching. He can really teach football...after all, it all comes down to basics...no need to complicate things.
No doubt D will be the strength for seasons to come with him running the show.
Was that Lowden that had the funky, multi-colored mohawk last year? Sounds just like a linebacker....a little off the norm. We are going to miss Conora next year, he could smell a screen or draw before the play was even whispered in the huddle.

As one can already tell i am a big fan of theese two juniors for Arcadia, and i believe both of them deserve to be on the all area team.
Garrett Tuck is 7-0 with a 1.54 era and is hitting .357 he is also leading the league with 7 wins.

Jon Larson is hitting .420 with .525 OBP also 22 runs scored, not to mention leading the pacific league in league play with an AVG of .608

Always the upmost respect for the Rams.... Snickles & Vasquez are gone. I think this year will still come down to either team playing its game to the letter. TC known for the smash mouth football and Monrovia known for the Big Play should be quite interesting. Max Ruckle and Nick Bueno could be brothers in all comparison's-hgt, speed, weight etc...... Like I said Monrovia's D is going to be the maker or breaker of this 2009 season. The Monrovia Offense is still unproven but from what I hear these guys are pumped up.

Don't need to see that chase down again - I have a permanent reel that replays in my head. Of course, if you watch the whole reel, you will also see Ruckle juke Lowden almost out of his cleats on other run plays. Bottom line, two excellent competitors who go full-tilt, crucial guys this upcoming season. Lowden is a stud.
TC has been been getting chased down or out run by M-town speed long as I have been around - but just like last year - the Rams bring what they bring - and sometimes it is more than M-town can handle...as the overall record of near 50/50 shows. It is ALWAYS my favorite game of the year.
Coach White and crew will now inherit a top notch rivalry that is rich in history as just about any in the SGV.

You make some great points. It is really hard to say who is more important. They are both so fantastic. I am still sticking with my point to Tuck at this point in the season. Ask me in a week or two and my opinion may change.

Rutherford is still a gamer and is having a great season, and those who said he isn't living up to expectations, I don't see how he is not. He has thrown for over 60 k's and is 6-1. Seems like a great year to me so far.

Meguel is there going to be some one to cover the Rio Hondo track perlims tuesday at south pas and the finals on friday i thought it was track season not football season!!!

Rio Hondo should definitely be represented heavily on the all-area team. From Monrovia De La Nuez and Council. From SM Besinger. From LC Smith, Oechsel, and Russell. From TC Sanderson. The RHL has some legitimate talent this year.

Sorry to jump your All Area baseball thread Miguel, but I haven't seen a lot of track ones and I wanted to further my and apparently another SP bloggers point that Senior led teams will likely dominate in all sports over those like SP's football and baseball teams, who didn't have many this year.

Our local paper has been featuring the SP Boys Track team, who are now undefeated in dual meet competion for the past two seasons including 2009. Not sure, but except for a few Tennis (SM?) and Wrestling (Rosemead?) squads the 2009 Tigers may be the only WSGV teams who can make such a claim over the last few years. South Pas is lead by several SENIORS, Matt Eastwood (Long Jump and Triple Jump), Jeffrey Stevens (300M Intermediate Hurdles, High Jump, Relays), Kryst Porynanee (sp?) (100M,110M High Hurdles and Relays), Steve Colliau (200M, 400M and Relays and who by the way apparently is the starting Center Fielder on the BB team) and Super Soph Sam Pons (1600M and 3200M). With this Senior lead team they have a chance to dominate the RHL Finals, and make a statement in CIF.

Again, this goes to my point that SP should be much improved over the next few years in FB and BB with the number and skill level of the returning Juniors and Sophmores. Likewise, those RHL teams who are losing a great many Seniors will be hard pressed to equal what they have accomplished this year.

This is going to be a real interesting year for the Cats. This is going to be probably one of the better defensive years for the cats and when that happens the offense seems to really come alive. Yes Nick Bueno is returning as the Cats starting QB and the team will host around 5 Sophomore & Junior RB's The only senior RB that I can think of is Ryan Solomon. From what I am hearing the front runner for TB is a kid by the name of Desean Rodriguez who I heard is very elusive and quick but who knows Monrovia may play power ball this season and put in the big boys and let them take it to the red zone and let the elusive guys bring it on in. The D is going to be Monrovia's Bread and Butter featuring all everything in the middle Josh Lowden I'm sure Max Ruckle will remember him from that game winning Tackle from behind in that close game at MHS. Just a little film for the reminder (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5WT5ym42A8) Another name to watch out for is Ellis McCarthy (6'6 265-70) Sophmore TE & DE. The secondary will feature Duwan Jones who to me could play TB on offense great athlete. Who knows what Coach Maddox is cooking up over at MHS. He will definitely have the athletes especially the D. Monrovia never falls short of running backs so if he can put it all together this could really be his signiture year. His Freshman and Sophomore Crop are a very spirited bunch of kids who don't like loosing.

Goldenarm: it will be interesting to see if the SP sophmores step it up and hit the weight room prior to their junior season. I for one, think that Fall 2009 is the year for SP to make its run. we have a good crop of seniors-to-be and the junior class will be strong. I am not so sure about the incoming sophmores as far as the 2010 season goes. Looks like we have a good speed back, and will be returning some muscle backs. I have heard rumors that SP will be making some revisions to the offensive scheme to better feature Bednarski from a passing and running standpoint. we'll have to wait and see. with the big time roster losses on Monrovia and TC, SP should be in the mix in 2009.

how can you say that Rutherford first off is not the best player on his team? What good teams has Tuck pitched against. Rutherford pitches every big game? Yes Garret is a great player but seriously would you think arcadia would beat burroughs without Rutherford pitching? Or even Monrovia ask them Rutherford almost threw a no hitter against them and shut them out. Also another big game Rutherford has pitched...Tuck is putting up the stats but against who? Tuck is deifinitely all-area but seriously best player on his team? That must be a joke...

If Arcadia finishes the season as #1 in the area, as they should unless someone makes a big run to the CIF finals, Tuck should get POY.

He is the MVP of the #1 team in the area and has been flawless in his play. He means more to his team than Rutherford does as Tuck pitches, plays flawless at the shortstop position and bats exceptionally well.

Although Tuck doesn't have "blow you away" statistics, he is 7-0 as a pitcher with a 1.54 ERA. He is batting .357 with 13 RBI's and 6 doubles with an OBP of .409.

In defense of Rutherford, he pitches against the best opponents Arcadia plays. He is still having a fantastic year, regardless of the amount of publicity. He has performed very well. He has an OBP of .413 a BA of .288. He has 61 k's in 8 starts with a 6-1 W/L count.

It's really hard to choose between the two, but at this point in the season I would have to go with Tuck if it were between these two.

I don't know much about the other players as I only get a chance to watch Arcadia but if others could chime in on this with statistics and valid points, that would be great.

Yeah....I may be drooling a little early, but you know, you can see things taking shape and you start to wonder how it might play out. Maybe I am revving up too soon - but when I saw the bulk and muscle a couple returnee kids put on -it fired me up. If our seniors can display that kind of work ethic - it will travel down through the ranks and you know what that means.

You know already I agree with you and have said we will see some strong football in the RHL this year...and SoPas and Blair will not be automatically relegated to the cellar and checked off as a "W" in advance- like previous years. Everybody is going to be scrambling for a seat at the dance. I would wager right now - no team goes undefeated in RHL league play this season.

I am also hoping all 3 Dena schools show strong.

Can you take the time to do a Track or Swim this year? We have had a about 10% of the coverage B-Ball has and I have learned to deal with that, but at the end of the year is it to much to ask that you check and see how area schools did at CIF and compare?

How do you have Rutheford as player of the year when he is not even the best player on his team. Tuck has stepped up this year and has outshined everyone on that team including Rutheford and those who have Sanderson as an inf. selection he isn't even playing infield right now and is only batting .311. Is this a popularity contest or are we looking at the stats. Beltran at Alhambra is hitting .397 with a 1.28 era where is he on anyones list .. I believe those numbers right there are better than most.

Bueno will be a junior QB come Sept, with a year of league and playoff experience. The Cats went 10-3 last season, with two of those losses to the same team, the Mead Panthers, who SHOULD have won CIF last year. No shame in those losses...the other loss being to Arcadia in their opener, and that was a pre-injury plagued Arcadia squad, and was a turnover fest for the Wildcats and their new head coach.
We (TC)played M-town for the league opener and it was a tremendous game, that went down to the wire. We played well enough to win, but allowed two big plays in runs of 80 plus yards...and as they say, that is that. We lost. It was war in the trench game, the kind I enjoy most of all. TC had 13 first half 1st downs...we ran right into the teeth of their D.

If you are an Monrovia fan, fret not the loss of Rufus Williams from the backfield - several talents wait to replace him this year...though I don't think the Cats have another "big back" in the fold. I know the lineup has plenty of speed and that a couple huge lineman are said to be prowling the area. I really can't break down the returnees, since I have no roster and MaxPreps does not have the "Year" listed for M-town players. Maybe a Cat fan can step up and provide a little of that.

I am suprised that no one has mentioned anything about Yortsos for player of the year, no matter how hard it is for me to say, he is leading the rio hondo in hitting batting .491, on base pct with .592, in top 5 for a slg of .632 for a leadoff batter and with that has 16 stolen bases to lead the league and only one error playing 2B all year. This kid is electric to watch and destroyed us in the second round. If San Marino clinches the RHL title, Yortsos for player of the year and Paciorek for coach, but thats only if.

I'm right there with you man. I need some local football info. I just moved into the area(Monrovia) a few years ago, and I got caught up with the Wildcats' awesome season. I'm excited to see what next season brings. I know they're basically losing all their RBs and that their QB is only a sophomore. The Cats should still field a strong team next year considering both their JV and Frosh team only suffered one loss each. What else is going on out there with the other schools?

Player of the Year is pretty hard to say right now. At the beginning of the year it would have been easy to say Covey or Rutherford, but neither of them have lived up to the hype this year at all. Others have had great years, Martin, Smith, Bernstein, Tuck mean everything to there team can't go wrong there. Just have to see how the season finishes out.

Hortan is very good, and has already shown he communicates, kids listen and that he teaches well. TC - keep this guy! I hope he stays on. We have a couple lineman getting BIG and barrel chested right now, by Sept....it could look good.

I believe Dusty first injured the shoulder at Moor Field last season. I heard he re-injured it after a fairly successful rehab - maybe someone could say if that is true or not. It may not be.
I truly hope it does not limit his play or become an ongoing nag that follows him. He is a good kid and an excellent all-around athlete...just watch him run lines, or a cone relay and it is obvious the kid is gifted with quickness, balance and agility.

It seems TC has some quality juniors that could anchor a mighty fine Ram baseball team next year as seniors. A few of them being Jara, Pultz, Justin Smith, and Sanderson. Watching some of the JV batting practice the other day, Justin Sutton was absolutely crushing shots in the gap and deep center. Of course it is not my field of expertise...I've seen just one game this season. Does TC have returning pitching talent?

Miguel you should go to the PHS vs. CV game on tuesday night at Stengal at 7. PHS beat them the last time.

Nigolian as catcher is a major stretch, he horrible defensively. Hits under 330 and bats 7th on there team, he is a good player but all area is a big stretch.

Kendall is nothing more than a junk ball thrower. Hard to take him serious for consideration outside of a winning record due to a heck of a defense to save him.

hey miguel, so what are you planning to hit up this week? other than baseball/softball, most track leagues are entering the prelims/finals this week. TC Girls took RHL, So.Pas Boys took RHL. Gab looks like theyve taken the league with an undefeated league season and TC is a close second with 2 losses. Gab/TC should be a good game since the running for league is still close and gab/sp will be playing later on this week.

Sanderson is a great talent but he is hitting under 320 this year.

Nothing against sanderson here but he isnt deserving of all area this year. His injury has seemed to affect his hitting this year

Ask around what Parisi and Berntein have done with that team is really special. Bernstein is hitting over 400 with a below 2 ERA on a team with not much of a supporting cast. Parisi has shown this year why he is the most dangerous coach in the area. Another nice win over Burbank on friday.

If San Marino Wins Rio Hondo, Mack is definitely coach of the year. Michael Thompson is probably the best catcher in the area, too.

Mike Parisi should be considered for coach of the year. He has done a lot with the program at PHS in a relatively short time.
