REVISED: Moors QB takes a beating vs. Schurr … in ’06

NOTE: Apparently the video shown here is from a 2006 Almont League game pitting Alhambra vs. Schurr. I made about six calls to Alhambra coach Gil Ruedaflores yesterday before posting the video to get a comment, but to no avail. He e-mailed late last night to say the clip shows Rob Alaveraz, the Moors QB in 2006. Ruedaflores went on to say Cazz took a shot, but it didn’t bother the Alhambra coaching staff. “He’s a tough a kid,” Ruedaflores said. If this thread continues with bashing and belittling coaches I will shut down the threat. Carry on ….

    I think the part of this video that bothers me the most is the blatant cheering by the Schurr coaches! Jumping up and down like a stupid clowns. Why not make sure the QB is alright before celebrating?
    I have less respect for the coaching staff now after see that idiodic display. What buffoons!

    oh, so now we are concerned with helmet to helmet hits are we?? I brought this up two weeks ago when Alhambra’s No. 82 smashed SP’s QB helmet to helmet after Bednarski had clearly released the football,and all the Moor fans said was “that’s football, play hard til the end”. yeah right! not much sympathy for Moor fans

    Cazz should have hit the dirt with a slide, and not taken the hit in the first place. I did not hear any griping about helmet to helmet hits two weeks ago from anyone when I commented on the hit that Alhambra’s No. 82 laid into SP’s QB after Bednarski had clearly released the ball. All I heard from Moor-fan was “that’s football, play hard to the end”. so I have not sympathy for Moor-fan on this one. did the refs throw a flag on that hit on Cazz?? it was an openfield tackle, yes a hard hit, but as Moor-fan says, “thats football”

    I am guilty of being one of those parents who at times forget that the football players are teenagers playing on the field. I am known to jump up and scream and shout when my son gets a great tackle, sack, and/or hit. It is after the fact that I have celebrated that I realizedarn that is someones child on the floor. Football is a contact sportand the QB knows that if he runs with the ballouch However, try not to judge too harshly, sometimes coaches, parents, and/or other players get too emotional and tend to forget its just a game.

    I have to say, that’s football. Those aren’t hits from the back or from the side, those are helmet to helmet face to face hits. That is just pure football and great hits. Why not be excited for a hit like that? Football is a rough game. If my kid put a lick on someone like that I would be excited too, then make sure the kid is ok and continue on playing.

    That was only 1 of 15 personal fouls on Schurr, That’s what they teach at Schurr, shame on you coaches for teaching the kids to play dirty. there is plenty of video out there to support it.

    Cazz has got to learn how to get ready to take a hit, he was totally unprepared for both of those shots. I agree with sstress that we as parents get pretty jacked up when there is a big hit, we forget that these are our teenage sons, and someone could get hurt. Thats why QBs especially have to run smart.

    Cazz popped up handed ball to ref. He is a tough kid and doesn’t like to run outta bounds, but I agree theres a time and place!
    They do play very dirty and I’ve heard it more than once.
    There #11 kid had 3 personal’s called on him, i actually saw him kick our #21 in the head when he was down.

    i missed the game couldn’t get off work
    but according to what i read in the paper
    its sounds like this game went down to the wire
    up for grabs for either teams
    schurr fans are acting like it was a blowout
    the way they are talking on here
    i was at that 2007 championship game
    that went five times over time or something like that
    probably the best and most exciting
    physical high school games i ever seen
    i actually have seen both teams play this year
    on separate occasions and i do agree with the schurr
    blogger’s ahs has way more talent from what i saw
    so maybe they are right about the coaching part
    i been watching ahs games since 1994 and never have i
    re call the schurr teams ever blowing an ahs team out
    its always a good game to watch
    the only lopsided game i ever saw was
    that kid babb year and when they had that colbert
    kid man was he great to watch i think he ran for almost
    400 yds and practically beat schurr by himself
    i remember it was at moors field i think it was 48-0
    this has always been a good rivalry the years ive watch
    live right across the street watch game from my roof
    best seat in the house ahs will do well this year
    and so will schurr

    if u see after the video, there is more video highlights form the game…..if u notice the fist interception thrown is the same play on the second to last interception thrown…..why even call that play if he already had thrown a interception!!! stupid stupid stupid!!!! thats the OC over there for u!!! i can tell u being an ex moor and player….he is one of the worst coaches on that staff!!! none of the players like him since i was there…..he has his favs from the get go…the only real coaches there are the head coach “Gil Rudeaflores” and Torres thats it!!! hopefully the athletic director (torres) makes the right call and does not let “MANNY RUDEAFLORES” the so called “offensive coordinator” back he is the reason the moors never make it out of the first round!!! the year they did they had Keith Jones there to help him!!!

Any coach can say if i had this guy or this guy we will be much better. The facts are you did not have them. Try and say something like if zion would’ve done his homework we would be CIF champions. When SG went to the finals schurr beat them by 40+ points schurr does not go and brag that we beat them so we should have been in the finals. The La habra QB played the 1st two qtrs and came back in the 4th the receiver played the whole game but, theirs the WHAT IF again. if you make those shirt homecoming is coming up or have a would’ve could’ve should’ve rally. Got go it clean CIF ring day.

    Hey all CIF 96 quit living in the past. I’ve been watching local H.S. football for the last 20 plus years. I watched MHS have a good run with quality players, as of late Schurr seems to be the school to beat in your league. You guys put together a string of good years, but it seems that making the playoffs is good enough for you. I seen a gentleman at the market wearing “Alhambra H.S. CIF playoffs 4 years in a row” t-shirt…Thats something to bragg about? must be, you folks printed the t-shirts. The fact remains that only one local school has a CIF ring, that is Schurr…oops, two schools-MHS- if you count water polo.

    I hope that people reading all this stuff understand that both coaching staffs are not writing these comments. I think the success of local programs needs to be celebrated not justified. A lot of teams could have more success year in and year out, but only one can win. Lets not knock a winning program. Remember how terrible alhambra was before ruedaflores got there. And schurr has a tradition of winning since it became a high school (2 CIF championships and 15 league titles in 35 years). No one is asking you you guys to be a fan, but remember that kids are at the heart of what we do.

    I wanna know why the Moors don’t run the ball more. The defense already knows to sit back and wait for the pass because film shows it. If they would run maybe, just maybe it would open up the passing game. Keep the defense honest. It seems like they have no trust in the line or RB’s. I looked at the stats and Peko only touched the ball 5 times for 18yds and the longest run for 12yds against Schurr. He’s not suppose to break for big yds every touch. Make Wilson pound that line and let Peko cut and run. Run more pass less and see what happens. Peko’s a better player than just a pass block dummy.

    I remember I was one of the bloggers that said. Football is football so just play. The hits where harsh and of course the team supporters are always going to be biased. But hey they got the best of cazz on that play. And yet again I say Play calling is the problem here. Everyone has proof just read the post of the alumni. I also am an alumni of the moors. The oc has to go!

    I’m sure he’s got better things to worry about like the next 4 games. All this bull shi’;/., bashing on coaches is getting ridiculous in my opinion. If you go to MIDVALLEYSPORTS.COM there is a very nice interview with the Schurr staff. If you are intelligent enough to realize, both staff’s have a great amount of respect for each other(coaching community) and all this crap won’t change that. That goes for MOOR and Spartan fans.
    I advise everybody to take a listen to that interview closely when they discuss AHS vs Schurr game then you will realize the game was it always is a battle of two very good teams!
