Boys Basketball: Muir beats powerhouse Dominguez
Muir first-year coach Gamal Smalley put together a nice season preview of the Mustangs basketball program this season.
Muir is young this year. The Mustangs start one senior, one junior, two sophomores and a freshman. But they were more than enough to help Muir (4-4) snap its four-game losing streak with a 61-58 win over Compton Dominguez in the Upland Tournament on Tuesday night. Dominguez is a 10-time CIF champion and 5-time CIF State champion. Junior forward Deshawn Hayes led the way with 28 points. "Our goal is to get better game by game and to get ready for league play," Smalley said.

The noise they make is more likely going to be the sound of laughter. You're telling me they're going to get a win against Pasadena, Burbank, CV or Arcadia? I beg to differ.
Look, the bloggers are correct. Dominguez is done, and is no longer a powerhouse. YET, we are talking about a Muir team that has been HOOOOOOORRIBLE the past few years with all of the west side talent playing on the east side of town for the Dogs.
I'm just glad to see that we are playing a little better and getting some "W's." Hopefully, in a few years we can compete with the Dogs once again, and get back to our glory days.

well the coach said the Muir team is young if you read up Mr.Amos so instead of being negative i see positive movement for the Muir Stangs, and coach Smalley is doing a wonderful job so far with what he has to work with, dont get it wrong he has some good young talent and if he can get them in 3rd place at least in the pacific leauge this year that would be a great accomplishment from the last few years the Stangs have been in....Go Stangs
Muir has the potential to be huge in league play this year. They are very young but if they can put everything together, they can make some serious noise in the Pacific league this year.
Oh come on! Compton Dominguez fell off a few years ago. They were a very good but the program is in disarray and the talent transferred out. Just read the LA Times and La Daily news and you'll find out...
Dominguez is likely done as a powerhouse. Russell Otis being rightfully fired, combined with the transferring and graduation of all their best players left them with 3 returners who averaged a combined 7 points last year. This is Dominguez in name only. Muir looks like a JV team.

how about arcadia.. knocked off Montclair and then Rancho Cucamonga (#24 in LA Times) in the 2 opening rounds of the IE tourney.
This is awesome, great news for the area to have the Mustangs boys team back
