Robledo's girls soccer top ten, tell me if I'm close

| | Comments (56) |

I'm surprising Miguel by jumping in here, but its a slow day and I remember how good the girls soccer teams were in this area. Just for fun, this is what my top ten in the Star-News area would look like. Tell me how close I am.

Robledo's Top Ten
1. La Salle (4-0-1) -- Are you kidding me, they beat Arcadia and tied Marymount, 'nuff said.
2. Flintridge Sacred Heart (2-0) -- Wins over Flintridge Prep and Campbell Hall, and we all know they have talent.
3. Arcadia (1-2) -- Don't look at the overall record, their 4-2 win over South Hills was good, and they lost to La Salle and a darn good Hart team.
4. Flintridge Prep (3-1) -- Considering their only loss was a 2-1 decision to FSHA, not bad.
5. Maranatha (2-0) -- Don't know enough, but they beat Mayfield and Monrovia ... Geez, everyone is beating Rio Hondo League teams these days.
6. Mayfield (4-1) -- You have to love the wins over San Marino and Temple City
7. Ramona Convent (2-0-2) - Wins over Alverno, Monrovia and ties against Westridge and South Pas.
8. Pasadena Poly (NA) -- I heard they're pretty good, but they only reported one score. C'mon Poly, post those results.
9. Alverno (2-2) - The defending champions took a big step back, but they're still top ten material.
10. Westridge (2-1-1) - I still think Jason Windass is one of the area's best coaches, but the Tigers aren't what they use to be.

hmm, although the photo does indeed look similar to his portraits, its hard to believe the person in this photo is younger than 45, if not in their 50s. Some people do go grey in their twenties, and vincent was not a well man with a hard life which may have aged him prematurely, but still, this person looks significantly older. Interesting. + there are always people that look similar to other people, somewhere.

This is a nice weblog and I wished to post a tiny item to let you know, great job!

Sharon Hinckley has accomplished a remarkable feat the creation of a book on watercolor painting that reads well both verbally and visually. It is packed with solid instruction, helpful hints, and glorious illustrations.Normally books on painting present the reader with a problem. The left-brain activity of reading is not conducive to the use of the right-brains ability to view, interpret, and understand a painting. Sharon Hinckley is able to lead you through the painting process visually so that you can capture how the painting is constructed. When you need information on something like the name of a color or a mixing technique, that information is easily found in her verbal description of the process.

I am constantly looking online for posts that can benefit me. Thx!

Thank you for an additional fantastic write-up. Where else could anybody get that kind of data in such a perfect way of writing? I've a presentation next week, and I'm around the appear for such details.

I must say, as considerably as I enjoyed reading what you had to say, I couldnt help but lose interest after a while. Its as if you had a good grasp around the topic matter, but you forgot to include your readers. Perhaps you should think about this from much more than one angle. Or maybe you shouldnt generalise so much. Its better if you think about what others may have to say instead of just going for a gut reaction to the subject. Think about adjusting your own thought process and giving others who may read this the benefit of the doubt.

Just discovered this blog through Google, what a pleasant surprise!

My DD graduated a few years ago, I watch a lot of the LC games and saw LC v Prep. It was a good game that could have gone either way. Prep had the momentum early and LC was coming back at the end of the game. Prep looked good.

Bilowitz drove me nuts when my daughter was playing because he really moves everyone all over the place during December and doesn't seem to be focused on winning at all. In the Prep game I saw him start one of his strongest midfielders up-top and had a kid that was one of his stars on offense last year playing defense. He changed everything around again and they absolutely pasted Village Christian

My only point is that I don't think that anyone knows if LC is going to be really tough or not yet.

goteamgo,
Thanks for the score! It sure looks like La Salle has quite a team this year. Wish that we could have arranged a game with them this year (and last year, and next year...) as our schools are only 21/2 blocks apart!

According to HighSchoolSports.net, La Salle defeated Notre Dame on 12/17 1-0, which would make the Lady Lancers 5-0-1.

Probably no one reported on Max Preps as it was finals week.

Will you please help Miguel put together a MaxPreps links table for the West SGV for the Star News, like the one you have on your blog? Now if we can just get all the coaches to post their scores and stats promptly and correctly!
Thank you,

Fred -- Overall, you have the right teams, but the order is a bit out of sync and will need to cahnge going forward. Also, many teams are playing but not at full strength. Westridge, for example, is missing its two starting forwards but is 3-1-2 thanks to a solid defense and #6 in the middle, who seems like she can put the ball whereever she wants wheneve she wants. Flintridge Prep also is missing forwards and South Pasadena is missing some defenders. So,keep an eye on it because it will all change when everyone is healthy and back. Oh, by the wya, La Salle is not what it used to be.

Justin said:

La Canada lost their first two games to Crescenta Valley and Flintridge Prep, 2-1. No wins yet. Arcadia's 1-2 record shouldn't give them a #3 ranking, in my view. Westridge deserves a higher ranking than #10.

FredJ said:

I figured La Canada should be there somewhere, just not enough reporting of scores from the Rio Hondo League teams, tell them to get on it.

Ruby said:

Overall, the rankings are fair. Found it a little odd to rank Poly at #8 if there is only ONE reported score because you have just "heard they're pretty good." Let's see how they do in League.

ASoccerParent said:

Fred, unfortunately some of your calls are off the mark due to several coaches who do not post scores or rosters. From what I have seen at the So. Pas. games, La Salle, Poly and Ramona all belong. All are good, tough and skilled. For the same reason though the Tigers should and likely will be in the rankings shortly. They are 4-3-1 with a 1-0 win over Poly, a 1-0 loss to La Salle on a corner kick in the 1st 3 minutes, and tied Ramona 1-1 last night when a goal was waived off in the last 2 minutes. They also beat North Torrance, the team that knocked them out of CIF last year. The other 2 losses were to ranked teams Notre Dame Academy and Torrance. From what I heard, the games were tied 0-0 at half and only unravelled after several JV players went on after some injuries and the coach's style of bringing and regularly playing JV's at Tournaments for experience. South Pas seems to be a pretty good team this year, and though thin as usual, will do some damage in the RHL if healthy. Their defense is actually very, very good and will keep them in games.

It will be interesting to see how certain schools fare this year with the departure of many area seniors who have gone onto D1 schools. It should be a real toss up to see how the area schools do!

Bob Anon said:

Where's La Canada?

Fred, I am not complaining about them being unranked, I just wonder if you know their record. The coach does not report scores.

Plus, the coach traditionally has had strong teams, thus my surprise at LC being unranked.
