SJ: Changing of the guard at Alhambra, San Gabriel
Star-Jibber: Discuss anything and everything you want ...

So, what are we to expect from the Almont League with new football coaches in place at Alhambra and soon at San Gabriel? Lou Torres takes over the Moors program, though his presence brings Alhambra familiarity and stability. His hiring does bring the Moors a new offense -- the Wing-T offense -- that Alhambra seems destined for success. Already he's asking that he wants dedication and commitment from his assistant coaches, so we may be seeing some new faces roaming the sidelines with Torres. Keith Jones stepped down after 11 seasons at the helm as San Gabriel's head honcho. If San Gabriel can find a way to replace Isaac Valdez, then the Matadors don't look to be skipping a beat, with four of their five linemen returning. Longtime assistant Jude Oliva seems to be the front-runner to replace Jones, but common sense rarely seems to prevail these days. I wish Jones good luck in his future endeavors. He was a classy man, always approachable, and great to work with. It'll be interesting to see who will fill Jones' heavy shoes. He brought the program some much-needed respect when putting San Gabriel on the football map in a tremendous 2003 run up to the CIF-Southern Section Division VII finals. I wasn't working here at the time, but I was living in Alhambra and remember seeing the signs off the 10 freeway heading east, wishing the Matadors good luck. Those few weeks captivated the entire community, and you couldn't help but root for the underdog. It's what movies are made of. There are some quality former head coaches out there who would love to coach at a program with a new facility. They're out there and you know who they are. But who truly is best suited to start a new tradition with the Matadors? We'll know very soon in the next few weeks.

Anon
Another temple city coach who blames THE KIDS for something he was hired to do.
In the last 10 years NO COACH at temple city would blame the kids for the BAD outcome of anything. Ooooops...but personal responsibility USED TO BE WHAT TEMPLE CITY WAS ALL ABOUT.
NOW - THE KIDS take it on the chin in bad times - AND THE COACHES CHEER THEMSELVES FOR EVERYTHING ELSE.

This Rams Know It All doesn't really know much about the new direction that is going around. Good luck to Coach Ruedaflores and Coach Jones in their "directions." I am confused about this Zeke Praga guy. Why is at Alhambra and San Gabriel? Isn't he supposed to be the TC Ram's college coordinator? And where did all the Rams go with their scholarships?

Mx2- need more hb threads with the season only three weeks away. Step your game up.
The New Era of Alhambra is back in 2010! and no one is going to stop us. San Gabriel HA tough luck!
Ah don't give me that assistant stuff Keith will reappear somewhere as a head coach at a football school. The demographic that makes up the San Gabriel area (if you know what I mean) just won't allow Keith to be as sucessfull as he wants to be and I beleive he see's the writing on the wall at San Gabriel along with an administration that just doesn't care. With Gabrielino a few blocks away and sucking the talent pool of available football players, beleive me he knows what's up.They should have replaced the new football field with badminton courts.
This guy has too much to offer a program just as an assistant.
Keith move east my friend move east. And east of the 605 where real football is played not on the West side where you have served your time in the minor leagues your much better than that.
