Super Bowl Sunday: I'm taking the Colts today by 10

I know earlier in the NFL playoff race I had said I was picking the Saints to go all the way. But a little office pool puts me at 6-3 and another guy here at 7-2. He's picking the Saints, which means I had to go with the Colts. If we tie, we split the pot. Anyone else with a friendly wager on this game? Really, though, whoever wins deserves it. You can't complain when you have two of the game's best quarterbacks. But I do have to give Peyton Manning the edge. His commercials are hilarious. Oh, he's a darn good QB, too.

Spring = Swim Can La Canada repeat? Is Maranatha legit? Here are two teams in the Pasadena area and God Bless Kieth for covering them but how many other CIF champs did we produce locally?

I wonder if Covey even wants any coverage, he seems pretty quiet and down to earth!

I am loving the soccer (still little coverage) and am looking forward to the spring sports. Go baseball and Swim!

I must agree this blog is... a little boring. How about some basketball blogs or finding out where other football players are going to play college ball. There are many other player's going to smaller school's or d2/d3 schools. They may not be going to UCLA but they worked hard and should get a shout out too. This is a local paper that is read by local fans.. so let's share the wealth. And start giving some space to other sports and more than one player. thanks

Rod, I am an old retired guy who spends too much time reading, otherwise I wouldn't even be here but I get bored and keep hoping. T

The reason these blogs never go anywhere is because the writer seems to focus on 1 or 2 sports or individuals instead of remembering it is just high school.

The other blogs are pretty good.

By the way, I put $100 on the saints! =)

You were saying something about the Aints not pulling off an upset....

I had 0 - 0 and won the 1st quarter and if the Saints would have gotten that touchdown at the end of the 2nd quarter would have won that to.

You should never know your "pool" numbers - I had 0 and 3 in the big buck pool.
With 36 seconds to go in the 1st - it was 3-0, then Manning throws a strike for a TD.
Then by good fortune, I am on 3--0 again with ONLY FIVE seconds to go before half, field goal turns my 3 to a 6 and my wallet has no smile.
All this because the Colts could not simply get a 1st down back on their own 25 and casually run out the clock the balance of the half.
Well that all sucks. But Brees is heatin up and it could be a great 2nd half. I trashed the pool sheet and all the numbers - and exchanged it for a cold Negro Modelo and some killer Nachos.

As much as I'd like to see a close and exciting game it's Colts by 21

This being a HS sports blog, I wish I knew what local area players may be involved in today's AFC-NFC championship game today.

I heard rumours of a former Charter Oak TE who plays for the Colts but thats it. It the past there were several Pasadena High grads who played and won/lost in the Super Duper Bowl like Chris McAlister (Ravens), Lester Towns (Carolina), and Chidi Iwoma (Steelers).

Maybe those who know their school well can add to the list I started. Honestly I can't see the Aints pulling off an upset of the Dolts unless somehow Payton Manning gets lost in his car on the way to the game and drives over to Cuba. lol
