Haram Park. Is dominating the pacific League.

  • SJC

Catherine Horner – LC – Sac Fly, Double, Home Run, 4 RBI’s on Friday night

  • Anonymous

Ethan Bramschreiber, St. Francis pitcher. Pitched a great game against Crespi on Friday.

  • CJ

I agree that Haram Park is dominating this year, and he’s a great kid and player. However, for “This Week”: I’d have to nominate Robert Lain: He hit a grand slam and had 5 RBI’s, including the go-ahead run in PHS’s upset victory against Burbank. He also pitched a complete game against Glendale, including 10 K’s. He tripled in two more RBI’s tying the game, and scored the winning run in that game. He’s certainly the reason Pasadena is 2-0, rather than 0-2 at the end of the week.

  • real deal

Rob Lain. No question about it.

  • Slugo

    Rob Lain’s got my vote!

  • HOT ROD

San Diego Lincoln won the Div 2 State Basketball championship. An exhausted PHS with tired legs couldn’t answer the bell and lost bad. PHS needs a deeper bench!

Best Game of the week was Arcadia vs. Burroughs hands down! Pasadena/burbank and monrovia/temple city were also exciting games.

  • Anonymous

arcadia burroughs best game of the week oh yeah 12-5 is real exciting guy.

  • HOT ROD

Sorry about the earlier post. It doesnt make much sense. lol

Any info on the Pasadena Games at PCC this weekend?

Haram Park is by far the best player this week… in fact all year

  • Big Baseball Fanatic

Well I only know what happened in baseball this week.

That being said I Gotta Go with Robert Lain for this weeks choice.
He’s a fine player from a baseball Family. He had an awesome week for Pasadena.
I know I said these boys were a dark horse in the Pacific League in Pre-Season but they are a front runner now.

  • Anonymous

okay well it’s exciting when the benches clear and theres a fight….guy.

  • MHS Fan

Obviously you will need to consider Dylan Covey who has yet to give up an earned run. The poor guy has had little run support (partly contributed by his slow start at the plate) so far and a defense that has yet to find itself. It also has nothing to do with the rest of the pitching, with the exception of a couple of guys. It may be just my opinion but I think that the entire infield is playing in the wrong positions. From last year to this year, Chulay went from Short to 2nd, Jebbia went from 3rd to short, Chavez went from 2nd to 3rd and the best defensive catcher is not starting.
Again..just my opinion but I would argue that those coaches decisions have a lot to do with the teams early struggles at least from a defensive standpoint. They could also use the strong outfield defense and hitting of a Tony Li who has been injured.

  • sgv observer

ethan bramschreiber shut down the number 1 team in division two only giving up and unearned run 2 hits, 1 walk and 6 strikeouts going the distance. he has my vote

  • Archangel

    MHS Fan no disrespect but..

The only thing Covey needs to worry about is not getting hurt.

Next year after he signs his Six -Figure Contract he can make a Donation to Maranatha to build Covey Field or something.

    Chris Montero 2011
    Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary
    Batted .500 for the week
Broke up 3 no hit bids against his team.

  • tcchamps

I agree with Anon for the Montero kid from Cantwell. No no-hitters on his watch. He should just sit out and come up to bat in the 6th or 7th and wreck things. Hope you nicknamed him Bam Bam. Hey Bam Bam, grab a bat and wreck that guys no hitter. Ok Coach.

    Bam Bam, Bummer.

    Classic.

  • Sam32

Greg Saldate pitcher for Alhambra. He pitched a perfect game on Tuesday against San Gabriel winning 10-0.

  • For the Love of the GAME

I’d actually like to recognize the Head Coach of Burroughs HS with a Special Award for putting on a skirt and acting the part whining to AHS Coach about bunting when up 12 – 5. How many times YOU run up the game against sub-par teams Coach? Your award for winning this prize is a BRAND NEW Pair of STOCKINGS to go with your SKIRT. Wait, that’s not all…..how about this Tissue Box made with Aloe so you don’t get that uncomfortable dry rub.

  • For the Love of the GAME

Sorry, but I think the Player of the Week needs to be a little more of a “WOW” for an award like this…no offense to the Covey followers, the kid’s a great player, but what WOW’d you this week with him? Stirking out 12 in 18-outs is not bad, but .000 for B-Avg, does not help.

Robert Lain, the hitting is respectable from the game vs Burbank, but he was 1 for 2 after removing the Sac-fly. A G-Slam, that’s SEXY, but don’t bring anything to the table including Glendale, went 1 for 3…that’s a bad inclusion; I know it was a triple so calm down, but was it a soft hit or hard?? And 10-K’s….uh, it was Glendale….

I know Haram Park has been on fire this year, but not sure what he did against Burroughs?? I know against Hoover he hit another Lead Off Bomb and went 2 for 5, but includes a K and ROE. The kid has crushed the ball lately.

Can someone WOW me for my vote please? Stop and think Monrovia fans before you speak, you just beat two adequate teams oh and Murphee was 0 for 6. I think I am siding with the Burroughs Head Coach still…..Skirt Boy!!

  • For the Love of the GAME

Miguel what do you think? Wait, what games have you visited?

  • fan4

I agree. Alhambra pitcher Greg Saldate has been a huge asset to the success of the Moors this season. Doing a great job leading that team and pitched a perfect game!
    Not bad at all.

Covey is a great pitcher but batting very poor this season!

  • Archangel

For the love of the game

    1st. It’s Murphree

    2nd. even after going 0 for 6 he’s still hitting .375

3rd. He’s 5-1 Pitching which ties him for 1st in SS and

makes him #1 in SS Div IV

4th. I don’t think anyone nominated him this week.

    just sayin

  • Anonymous

Saldate is a talented kid but it was only 5 innings and it was San Gabriel (0-8)still Impressive though.

  • For the Love of the GAME

    To Archangel….

Sorry about the name, my miss.

While Murphree’s stats are imnpressive, I believe the Topic is “For the Week”. Nothing against his season stats, they look good.

Sorry, but I am still leaning towards awarding the Burroughs Head Coach…first he beat CV and then he put on a skirt against AHS!!!!

  • Anonymous

Burroughs went to Arcadia after beating a very good C.V. team. And Arcadia kicked there butts. And pasadena beat burbank who had also had almost a full returning starters including lonnie. The pacific league is going to be intresting to follow this year.

  • Archangel

Gotta admit the Skirt thing has crowd appeal!

In my opinion the athletes of the week should be for the guys Adrian Velasco from Monrovia what a day he had on friday vs Temple City, Sam Pons from South Pasadena making the 3000 meter invitational race llok easy on saturdays pasadena games winning with a time of 8:35.92, and Temple Citys Philippe Ueng who is just a sophomore and he won boys pole vault with 14-00.00 and for girls i thought freshman Jazmine Robertson from Monrovia had a great 100 meter dash race in pasadena winning with a time of 12.64 in the B large schools race congratulations to all

Robert Lain will get Star News Pacific League player of the week and well deserving. Haram Park, please I saw him srike out 3 times vs Burroughs. Yes he is a solid high school player, but lets be honest here, he doesn’t deserve it this week. I’m sure Miguel will really want to see Arcadia play Muir and Glendale this week. Just be patient he will be at the Arcadia Lasalle game and the finals of your tourny. Arcadia has never been hurting for baseball press.

  • For the Love of the GAME

    To Anonymous…noticeable…nice name

Robert Lain, had a good week; his performance is solid, but I think there’s still better. Against Burbank, ya a Grand Slam is worthy of recognition but what else, 10 K’s against Glendale? Helloooooo, it’s Glendale?!?!

What about Jonathan Larson as an off the wall kind of nomination? Went a combined 5 for 6, that’s an .833 Batting Average, with an .888 OBP, being HBP twice, and walking once. Scored twice, hit two RBI’s and held a 1.000% Fielding Percentage while playing four different positions in two games. Oh and the games were against Hoover and Burroughs, who beat CV; we’ll see how well PHS does against Burroughs tomorrow just for a comparison. Hoover maybe equal with Glendale, still giving the nod to Hoover.

  • Realist

For the love of the game-

I really like your nomination. Jonathan Larson is a well rounded player that does it all. And playing 4 different positions is NOT easy. And he excels at it. The kid has a 1.000 fielding percentage. Thats phenomenal. And he is hitting .833 this past weeks. He is deserving of player of the week. Lain is a close second thought.

I haven’t had a cig in 10 years. The worst part related to giving up is definitely the initial week. Fortunately that stuff didn’t last and things improved every day on account of the e-cigs. Please don’t feel overwhelmed. Merely keep going with it and you can have great results once and for all.
