Baseball: Arcadia looks to make history in Pacific League

No team in the Pacific League has ever finished undefeated, and, really, who would have thought it would be this year's Arcadia (20-3, 12-0) team that would be on the verge of accomplishing such feat? This is no disrespect to the Apaches talent this year, but when you lose a powerful right-hander (Bryce Rutherford) and as many seniors (11) and sluggers (Tim Smoley, David Huntzinger) it's hard to fathom that that very same team will bounce back and compete as strong as it did. The truth is, the Apaches have done that, and more. Arcadia is generally balanced, but others have filled in big shoes, like Jonathan Larson (.500 BA, 26 RBIs), Garrett Tuck (.436, 28 RBIs) and Haram Park (.397, 17 RBIs, 3 HR). Tuck (6-2, 49 Ks, 2.24 ERA) and KJ Edson (6-1, 49 Ks, 1.11 ERA) have been solid on the mound. Arcadia visits Glendale (3-10, 2-8) on Tuesday and will most likely put its unblemished league record on the line Friday night when it visits rival Crescenta Valley (17-5, 9-2). Arcadia beat Crescenta Valley, 3-1, in the first meeting April 16 at Arcadia. Larson connected on a 1-2 pitch for a two-run triple, giving Tuck all the runs he would need to lead the Apaches in front of a standing-room only crowd. Tuck pitched six innings, stuck out seven and allowed one unearned run on four hits, and it was his sacrifice fly in the third inning that gave Arcadia a 1-0 lead. In that game, Edson picked up his first save of the season when he struck out the first batter he faced. He struck out the third batter and got the last out on a grounder.

Stupid can be as stupid does...this event can be described as joke. Lindsay Lohan is going to do illegal drugs due to the fact your lady wouldn't "get it"...The complete legal process is a faiytale. Perhaps you should put this lady in some prison in Cincinnati or elsewhere in Ohio where you don't have a overcrowding and there's no daft program that repeatedly helps these people get away with ****. At any rate if the lady is likely to persist to do substances she should be "prudent" about it and not just get caught...or else, continue with what you're doing Lindsay lohan and allow us to drop you inside Afghanistan with hugely bold soldiers which are losing their lives on a daily basis to provide your stupid so-called "liberty".
Outstanding! Ahmadinejad did us a big favor! While we desperately delude ourself into thinking he (and those who applaud him) are fit to be regarded as reasonable individuals, he spits in your face to point out to us we are (repeatedly) fooling ourselves.

Ive never seen an "incompitent" head coach lead a team to an undefeated season in league play. Not only were they undefeated, but thats the first time that has ever happened in the Pacific League. Thats wierd.
Lemas's critics are still out here. Congrats to the players. Your accomplishments with such an incompetent head coach are all the more amazing.
Congrats Nick, so where's that anonymous critic of yours? Guess going undefeated in league quieted him down a little.. Good job boys!!!
If these boys can pull it off on Friday night against CV, you need to write an article called "The little Injuns that could." Even though politically incorrect, it is appropriate for a play on words. These boys are the greatest group of boys, in it for the team. Not one of them a glory-seeker. No one expected them to amount to much this year. They are a hard working group, and they encourage each other to be the best. I hope and pray they can pull it off. They deserve it and the fine coaching staff as well.
You don't have to go to a division 1 school to be considered a stud.

One step closer to history since Arcadia defeated Glendale today 14-3.
Anonymous,
Just curious as to your definition of "just enough hitting". One player with over 93 plate apperances hitting .500, 3 other starters hitting over .400, and 2 others over .300. Sounds like more than "just enough hitting" to me.
P.S. There's way too much negativity on the blog, "C'mon people now, smile on your brother everybody get together try to love one and other right now." Go Monrovia, Go, Alhambra, Go Maranatha, Go T.C., Go La Salle, Go Arcadia, Go Pasadena, Go San Marino, Go South Pas, Go La Canada Go and good luck to every young man playing high school baseball!!!!
Tim Smoley isn't a super star. Last time I checked he is not a big time d1 program. I like arcadia a lot and there future is only going to get better. In the next two years I see a dog fight between arcadia and cv for the league title.
Everyone, including fans of competing programs, should be enjoying this potentially history making event. This year’s Arcadia team is loaded at pitching and has put together just enough hitting to win games. Even without a legitimate superstar like Tim Smoley, these guys play better as a team than any of the Arcadia teams of the last few years. If they drop the little ball mentality that Lemas obviously loves so much, then this team has the potential to legitimately compete in CIF. But that won’t happen and they risk losing (again) in the first or second round of the playoffs. Such a wasted opportunity.
As a Maranatha fan I haven't always liked Love the Game's comments, but Anonymous, you are a serious hater who needs to go crawl in the hole you came from. At the very least rephrase your comment to, "this team" rather than, "these kids." Arcadia has the opportunity to do something truly special, why the hate? Those kids answered the bell this year and I for one hope they not only go undefeated but also make a deep run in the playoffs. I'm a Maranatha fan but I can route for others on the way, some of these comments never cease to amaze me.
Anonymous,
You are the same brain surgeon that said in Feb. "Mark my words Pasadena will finish ahead of Arcadia", you're also the same person that said both "An experianced Burbank team, and a young talented C.V. team will finish ahead of Arcadia in the Pacific League." Do you ever tire of making such brilliant predictions?
Bet the house these kids wont do it. CV will demolish em
