Friday’s Scores
Rosemead 21, San Marino 7 – Matt Fregoso rushed for 233 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Panthers. Rosemead was marred by penalties, 11 to be exact. The flags negated long plays or delayed long scoring drives for Rosemead. Frustration set in for San Marino late in the second half when a scuffle broke out, resulting in the ejection of San Marino’s Manny Vargas and Rosemead’s Mike Chavez.

San Dimas 35, Monrovia 34, OT — Cody Watts accounted for four touchdowns to lead the Saints. Nick Bueno’s 1-yard run attempt for a two-point conversion in overtime was the end for the Wildcats. San Dimas trailed 28-7 heading in the fourth, scored 21 unanswered points and won in overtime. I’m shocked. Absolutely shocked.

Arcadia 42, Temple City 14 – Arcadia quarterback Myles Carr accounted for four touchdowns and the Apaches scored on six consecutive possessions starting in the second quarter all the way to the fourth. Temple City did not have a passing yard until the fourth quarter, and two shotgun snaps late in the first half that went over quarterback Mikel Quintanilla set up two Arcadia scores.

South Pasadena 27, Glendale 21 — The game went back and forth with South Pasadena narrowly staying ahead. It started with the Tigers off to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter. It was 14-7 at the half, and Glendale only had four yards of offense in the first half. It went 14-13, 21-13, Glendale tied it 21-21 in the fourth before Matt Nelson caught a 20-yard pass from quarterback Conor Bednarski. South Pasadena running back Patrick Martin had 23 carries for 136 yards, 103 yards of which came in the second half.

Pasadena 33, La Salle 16 — Andreece Brown had 25 carries for 124 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs to their first win. Cleo Bates rushed for 107 yards and one touchdown. Classy moment of the night: With 1:04 left in the game and a 10-point lead, Pasadena decides to go for it on first-and-10 at the Lancers’ 13-yard line.

San Gabriel 27, Contreras 6 – Matadors QB Andy Guerrero rushed for 156 yards and passed for 135 yards to give Jude Oliva his first win as head coach. Guerrero started in place of sophmore Eric Alvarez.

St. Francis 31, Venice 13 — The St. Francis defense came up huge in its win, forcing five turnovers which came in the form of four fumbles and one interception. Michael Singlyn added two sacks for the defense. Quarterback Brett Nelson finished 12-of-17 for 224 yards and three touchdowns. Travis Talianko was Nelson’s big target with eight catches for 178 yards and two touchdowns.

Crescenta Valley 38, La Canada 34 — Marro Lee rushed for 235 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Falcons at Glendale High. He took the third play from the scrimmage 63 yards, setting up the score. He scored the game-winning touchdown with 48 seconds left, a 19-yard run. Spartans quarterback Scott Gray passed for 176 yards, but was intercepted with 46 seconds left in the game. He scored four touchdowns, all on runs.

Sierra Vista 42, Keppel 12 — The Aztecs could not stop the Dons run game, who piled up 308 yards on 28 carries and four touchdowns. Keppel’s scoring came on an 80-yard pass on a fake field punt from Walter Ortiz to Adrian Portillo. Sierra Vista scored on its first play and the Aztecs answered with an 80-yard drive, but that’s as close as Keppel would get.

Alhambra 20, L.A. Wilson 20 — The Moors were missing a slew of players for disciplinary reasons. At one point, Alhambra coach Lou Torres was playing six sophomores on defense. Still, the Moors marched into Wilson territory and came away with the victory.

    Miguel,

I don’t think M-towners needed to see that picture to remind them. On the other hand, San Dimas may need it to remember a better day for them. Monrovia by 14 tonight.

Every week you seem to revel in adding a comment regarding TC not having a shot at victory. EVERY GAME THIS YEAR the Rams will be underdogs and slotted to lose. I can’t remember such a time in TC history. Were down, but by no means dead. If you fire the gardner, don’t feed and water the plants for months – don’t expect the roses to bloom bright and healthy overnight.
McFarland will find us a win somewhere down the road.

  • MTownOneLove

    Miguel,

I know some of the Monrovia players and I know first hand that they are going out for blood! This is not just a game, its about pride, and when you speak of pride when talking about Monrovia you are talking enough pride for 10 teams!
I hate to say this but I feel for some of these SD players, because these Wildcats are going to be ruthless and go Brave heart style on the Lancers.

  • MtownOneLove

    Dear Lancers?

These Wildcats are going to be true to their name tonight, “WILDCats” They are out for blood they have assured that they are going to go Braveheart on you guys and won’t be satisfied until they put a hurting on your team and pride! Seriously and this is no joke, Monrovia is straight out playing for Pride and when you mention Pride and Monrovia in the same sentence you paint a picture of a massacre! SD you guys are going to eat Each and every comment you guys have made since the Title game last year, I assure you Lancers Once again that the Wildcats will win on the field and if your fans got a little jumpy I’m positive

  • Observantcat

MtownOneLove, they are the San Dimas SAINTS, But I do agree with you on the rest of your post. I think that Monrovia should take these guys one game at a time. And then move on to the rest. If and I do say If San Dimas makes it past the 2nd round of the Playoffs then I think the Hats should come off and the sleeves roll up and we just thump it out. In that case assumimg that whom ever wins take it all. Tonight Monrovia will win big just based on pride. Their best player is out (MOONSOON) with a heat stroke.

  • Mtown for life

Mtown must not overlook the saints tonight. I am sure both teams will be up for this one. I think the Cats will be out to make a statement. They believe this is their year. I do as well. It is going to come down to who can recover if the other team has some success. Last year the cats were young in key spots. This year Bueno is a senior, Johnson is a senior, Mccarthy is Junior. The oline and dline are seniors…. I expect that veteran experience to shine tonight. SD is good. We will have to bring our a game tonight.

  • stangfan

i hope mtown wins tonight and go marshall eagles

  • SaintsR4real

    MTown1love, Observent,

WOW, you guys sound like lowlifers with all the violence talk. I hope you guys aren’t representing Monrovia Football, if so, sad for the school.

Do you really think with the Saints playing at home and them coming off a very good game against RC (10-21), that it will be more than a 7 point difference win or lose?

The Saints represented the SGV pretty good last week and hope Charter Oak comes out successful.

Facts; it will be a battle, full house, and a snapshot of things to come the rest of the year.

My thought…. If Monrovia is relying on Bueno being on his absolute best (cuz, per stats, I don’t see anyone else doing anything), then you they will need a little luck for sure.

  • Big Football Fanatic

    Forecast for Tonights Game Wildcats@Saints…

Saints will be unprepared for the RAIN of Touchdowns poured down on them by the Cats Offense and unable to hold back the FLOOD of Monrovia’s Defensive charge.

  • Observantcat

Saints4real: I dont in anyway condone violence. I only agree to the concept of winning back the pride. So forgive me if you think that was my intention. It’s meerly a high school football game in which Monrovia will seek revenge on what they feel the Saints took away last Dec. I got lazy and didn’t want to disect the rest of the post but I get your message. My only thoughts are that they play like a team and win without any distractions. As far as others contributing to Monrovia’s offense, I think we have some guys that will surprise you tonight. We have’nt had to utillize our running game as much beeing that Bueno has elected to improve on his passing game. But we do have the backs to run with anyone in the Mid-Valley. We have the best core of recievers that Monrovia has had in a very long time. As well we have the New Proteg’e QB that can take over this game and turn it into a track meet. Believe me we are going to be prepared.
I would say good luck! but I’m sure you dont want to hear that either.

  • MtownOneLove

    Hahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!
I called them Lancers, that is how much I care less of San Dimas, I don’t even know their Mascot…. Ok “Saints” Be aware of the Wildcats tonight! V for Victory MonroVia….

  • SaintsR4real 2.0

    MTown1love & Observant,

Wow, I am suprised with this type of pre game talk. Monrovia is a one man machine. I was at the arcadia game. Bueno carried the entire team on his back and did a great job of it. Minue bueno, arcadia wins. We know how to stop mighty mouse, though. Look at the last game, the CIF game we won.

Until proven otherwise, we are the champs. Feels good.

  • Observantcat

Saints4real: It took more than just nick to get 34 pts. Our Defense will control your game from start to finish. You dont even have a go to guy. The San Dimas offense is mediocre at best compared to the previous 2 seasons. Your defense is by far less superior than your last years squad. You guys are missing major nuts and bolts from last year. I am not taking anything away from your championship rings, all I’m saying is to enjoy them while you can. Those guys who have them should enjoy them. This is another year and time. Let the best teams prevail.

  • realist

way to homer monrovia as always melendez, last time I checked your suppose to have an unbiased opinion on the games you write about. Then again Bueno is your boy

  • Honesty Speaks

Monrovia will beat San Dimas tonight because of Bueno… Monrovia needs to get off there high horse tho, it is not the same team from last year, there not on last years level…
    MTownOneLove: your a sad individual

  • Anonymous

Not true! Monrovia is also better than last year on some aspects of the game. The Defense is on a whole new level as far as a good rushing defense. The speed of this years D is a step faster than last years D. The recievers are more run and catch with more breakaway speed style recievers. We have running backs that are unproven mainly because of the spread offense that we run. But I expect that Maddox will show all tonight.

  • Viking fan

And when everyone is done watching football Friday night, come support Blair as we play Verbum Dei @ Muir Saturday night @ 7. “Blackout” game…show up in all black!

  • MTownOneLove

    Honestly Speaks,
Honestly I dont care what you think of me!

Monrovia is going to come out Better, Faster, Stronger more agressive and most importanyly HUNGRY… V for VICTORY MonroVia…..

  • Anonymous

Monrovia 21 San Dimas 7 at halftime.

  • MTownOneLove

Monrovia 21 – SD 7 half time. Monrovia scored on a fumble recovery by Big Bubba and a punt block by Big Ellis.

  • ATown

    Arcadia 42 – TC 7

  • Red Leader

Monrovia(coaches) CHOKED AGAIN! Good job San Dimes.

  • Anonymous

Sp won, but Coach Smith’s play calling was horrible. He was conservative to hell, and every time he was it completely backfired. SP will not go far if he does not change his offensive style.

  • Anonymous

Monrovia, please stop fumbling the ball and taking yourself out of ball games in which you would otherwise be very competitive. Thank you

    Sincerely,
    a fan.

  • Saints came marching in!!!!!!! For another win!!!!!!!!!!!!

You’ve gotta love these games! MTown, wtf was that?????????? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s what happens when u talk that much ‘ish’ on the blogs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ROTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!! Go Saints!!!! Please Miguel, no more Vilecats on this blog till they win a championship!!!!!!!!!!!! 0-9!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA. Obsolete-o-cat I need an explanation on how u lost tonight. I think the blog deserves it.

    Karma is a hctib!!!!!!!

  • Bob Anon

Another year, another heartbreaking loss to CV. I wonder if the team started reading the blogs and rankings.

  • Anonymous

SOME Wildcats came out and did their job tonight and others did NOT. First half looked great.

Everyone was all fired up and ready to kick butt.

When the Wildcats came out for the 2nd half, I could see a difference. It was almost like they were calm and maybe even felt like they had it in the bag. They didn’t come back out with the same determination and focus as they started the game. Errors. Dropped passes. Fumbles. Penalties. Penalties. Ugh!

Defense needs to get it together. It seems as though they don’t get serious until the other team is in scoring position. Receivers need to CATCH THE BALL!

The Wildcats are the team that STARTED the game. They did not FINISH the game. They handed that game to San Dimas – on a silver platter.

  • Moneytalks

Wow, football is crazy but you gotta love it. One week Monrovia looked near perfect against Arcadia, then they choked against SD who they were beating 21-7 at half. Go figure. Maybe against Arcadia, everyone was hyped for 48 straight minutes because of the huge home crowd and new stadium. I don’t know. I would like to hear what m town fans have to say.

Arcadia won 42 – 7. Bounced back after a rough week against monrovia. Played like they were supposed to play.

  • Observantcat

Hey I know how to take my lumps when I have to. Monrovia Played a Helluva first half even 3quarters of football. Then in the 4th the Saints did come Marching in. It was the craziest 4th quarter of football ever played by the Wildcats to my knowlege. Passes were getting behind them even when it was clear that they were going there. Take your hats off to the Coach’s from San Dimas for taking major risks that most coach’s would’nt have taken on 4th downs. All in all it was a good game and somebody had to win. Good Luck SD…..We will see you guys in the finals perhaps with the same record of 10-2. On the flip side I think The Wildcat Defense played a hell of a game but we came out flat in the 4th and let it get away. #28 is a star in the making.

  • Honest Question

According to Fred Robledo Monrovia hasn’t won a significant game in a long long time. I think hes right, why cant Mtown win the big games?

  • Around Towne

San Dimas you and your coaches should be ashamed for the way you behaved at the end of the game tonight yes it was a hard fought game but cartwheeling and diving on the field was a poor display of sportsmanshiP, Derrick Johnson needs to learn to hang onto the football his fumble in the fourth quarter set up the game tying score, I’m not so sure those refs were neutral esepcially getting to be in the home team locker room at the half.

  • Anonymous

Is that headline and picture from this year’s game or last years? Good job Saints!

  • Paris LaFronc

Oh Miguel your love for certain schools continues to show… Follow Stang on his picks! I don’t know whether to hand you advice or a tissue! You have salivated over certain schools since you came up from the OC, and they continue to let you down.. Monrovia aside(there is talent there), BUT LaSalle you picked again? Rio Hondo? La Canada? Really? Are you getting “booster club” bonuses?

  • Just Being Honest

The fact is… San Dimas was very flat in the first half. 2 defensive TDs off of bad San Dimas plays actually. Bueno was ok. #28 is someone to watch out for. Monrovia’s D-line is great! But let’s face it… There was not a whole lote of offense coming from Monrovia. Once San Dimas aired the ball out some, they could not be stopped. There were not bad calls. No excuses. The Saints just sucked it up and played like the champs that they are.

  • SaintsR4real

    Around Towne,
    Eat Crow!!!

San Dimas knew they deserved to lose that game (they had more turnovers than Monrovia), but they were’nt going down without a fight! And when they went above and beyond their capabilities they celebrated! Something some people, as yourself don’t understand.

Your a sad excuse for a Monrovia FAn, calling out a kid, for fumbling a ball. Why didn’t you mention the good and great things he did tonite?? Seems to me your new on giving opinions or just an @ss!

MtownOnelove and Football Fanatic..EAT CROW TOO!

Observantcat, way to step up with humility, it could’ve gone either way, at least we both understand that and we came out RESPECTING each other a smuch as ever!!

Where was Bueno tonite, was he not up to par or did San Dimas have his number by the end of the game. Only he would have that answer.

    See you boys in December!

  • Yo

Play the weak sister’s the last couple of years and get a good reputation. Play a tough schedule and get use to it. You use to skate through your league the last couple of years, now you are playing good teams and finding out that you are average. Monrovia accept that you are a good bully, not a great WSGV team. Leave that to the BIG boys.

  • “Blame it on the Rain”

No rain to blame this loss!!
Calling out Observantcat. Where are you now! It’s after 10:00PM you said that you would be ready to blog after the Billycats big win tonight by 21 pts.
And MTownOneLove I hate to say this but I feel for some of these SD players, because these Wildcats are going to be ruthless and go Brave heart style on the Lancers. What? did you say Brave Heart or no Heart.
These Wildcats are going to be true to their name tonight, “WILDCats or should we say “KittyCats”
    Big Football Fanatic
Saints will be unprepared for the RAIN of Touchdowns poured down on them by the Cats Offense and unable to hold back the FLOOD of Monrovia’s Defensive charge. We gave you 14 pts and you still loss. What happen? you all said that if it was not for the rain or we will get our revenge tonight. Well none of the above. San Dimas gave No-Town 14 pts and could not get win. San Dimas could of won the game 33-7 I guess you all talk game, but like Observantcat who never played the game only on PS3.

  • Realist

Im not hating on anyone, but Monrovia fans need to wear this. I wasnt there but it sounds like it was a very one sided game. I mean San Dimas gave yall 14 pts. For all the talking you Monrovians do, this might have been a wake up call.” by the way, the Apaches had a field day on TC. It wasnt even a game.

  • SaintsR4real

    Miguel,

    What game were you at??

There must have been at least 4 video cameras or more on the Monrovia sidelines, sooooooooo, where are the video highlights you promised us??>?

You didn’t say the Billyats had to win to show the video, c’mon, were all SGV! ;-p

  • Miguel Melendez

Got home around 2 a.m. and I’m up catching up on my DVR. I’ve checked our website four times and still no highlights. I’ll try to get the highlights up as soon as I see them, or when I wake up, which probably will be 20 minutes before UCLA-Texas kicks off.

  • No Name

Dont compare last years Monrovia defense to this years. You cant even compare them if you wanted to. Look at the stats. This team is not as good as last year. They had playmakers at every level. They’re missing some graduated players. You can just tell by looking on the field. Hopefully they get it together.
Anyways Rosemead won. Matt Fregoso is a beast. Hes too quick for defenses to try to grab a hold off. He’s like a little nat.

  • New York

Congrats to the Saints. It seems that your fighting spirit from the Rancho game carried over to help you all focus for four quarters plus OT.

Monrovia has a great nucleus of players and coaches and continues to head in the right direction, but I would like to see some more killer instinct offensively and defensively.

Let’s not forget that SD are defending champs (13-1 last year) and we were on their home field this time. This is certainly not a moral victory for Monrovia, but there are some positives to point toward: Take SD into OT on their homefield; Lose while going for two to win; we’ve now played in OT; losses typically cause us to look within and fix things that are not working.

Without question, protecting the football comes first. I remember my college coaches giving our team a breakdown of priorities in every situation. No matter where we were on the field, the first two priorities remained the same: Priority #1 was ALWAYS ball security. Priority #2 was positive yardage on first down. Of course, we worked on these priorities 300 days a year. Ball security is certainly not something that you only talk about.

  • ANGRY DENA DOG

Mtown= blowntown- Talk’n all that bs and look what happened….That’s what you get!!!!!

  • Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure

Monrovia will always be known as the team that can never win the big one. They got owned.

  • LOL

    All that talk…All that Choke!

  • BigFatFan

its strange seeing SP at top of the RHL leader board at 3-0. Pinch me, am I dreaming?? Martin, another dominating performance running the ball. seemed like SP strayed from their bread and butter last night in the second quarter, but regained the momentum in time to put a last minute winning drive together. If I had a complaint of coaching decisions its to “go-for-it” on 4th and short, instead of punting ball away or trying field goals. With Martin carrying the rock, Bednarski a threat to run as well as pass, seems like short yardage pick-ups should be a no-brainer.

  • Mrs.Coach O

Congrats to Coach Jude Oliva and the whole SG football team and fans!!! on their 1st win of the season!!! Many more to come SG!!! YOU KNOW!!!!

  • New York

Irony: People point to this win as a “big win” for San Dimas and in the same breath say that Monrovia can not win a “big game.” Well, Monrovia blew out San Dimas last year in the regular season. Wasn’t that a “big game” or a “big win” for Monrovia? It was SD’s only blemish all year! Whatever. So then you pessimists can say that we don’t win when it counts (meaning game 14), but then again point to SD’s victory last night as a game that counts…huh?

Anyone who thinks that we bloggers have any effect on the outcome of games whether a blowout victory over Arcadia or a disappointing loss to San Dimas is nuts. Unless players and coaches are on here blogging (I sure the heck hope they are not blogging) then this interaction is nothing more than a “virtual donut shop” where people talk about local sports.

Welcome back, Realist. We missed you after last week’s game, which was truly a one-sided game.

  • New York

    Two last comments:

    1) San Dimas is better than what we fans think. They played Rancho tougher than Charter Oak did.

    2) I would REALLY like to see Ellis McCarthy moved back to tight-end. His athletic ability (size and speed) would make it nearly impossible for high schoolers to defend him, especially in key situations when Monrovia needs to move the chains to keep drives alive or have a jump ball in the end zone (last night’s fourth quarter comes to mind) SD had far too many possessions. Putting him at tight-end would allow him to still block on run plays but would also put a very big weapon out on pass routes.

  • anonymous

Realist? I dont think so. If you think that Arcadia vs. TC was the hightlight film of the week then you really are dumber than most people think. San Dimas would Roll Arcadia by 40 or more points on any Friday. You should be quiet and stop using other names to hide behind in these blogs you have been exposed!!!! Yo said, Blame it on the Rain. etc……. Shhhhhh we all know who you are. Enjoy your Arcadia allegiance to the Apache Nation. They will have their hands full this season with the likes of Glendale, Hoover, TC was just a good warm up for your All Ameircan squad.

  • anonymous

Ps. AngryDena Dog, you will be angry for a mighty long time. You may want to seek counseling at some point. Huckster’s rehabilitation center is open all night just for dismayed bulldog fans.

  • Goldenarm

Congratulations to San Dimas. I had Monrovia by 14 and looked like mr crystal ball at half, but was lookin 100% wrong at game end.

I commend Maddox for going for two. You have the win within reach- you gotta grab for it.

Ahead 28-7 and then letting it slip away. Damn. As I had said earlier this week, this game could have more value as a team building experience than bringing home an outright win. Too many people envisioned Monrovia to go undefeated and just flatten other solid football programs. The real season goal is to get better week by week and hit playoff time peaking as a team, that is when all the hard work and lessons learned pay their dividends.
The win is big for the Saints, but it assures nothing when all of the Mid-Valley comes together to party in November. There is no shame in losing to the Mid Valley champion.

  • Goldenarm

    TEMPLE CITY
For awhile, it appeared a game might be at hand. At first, both sides could not move the chains, and the Rams were able to put Arcadia in 3rd down and 7 situations, where the Apaches had trouble converting.

Ram fans did see the best long scoring drive in recent history from TC. About 80 yards of hard nosed run plays straight at the teeth of the Arcadia defense, culminating in a blistering quick 15 yd burst by by Josh S. I commend the coaching staff on play calling on this drive, because they did not waver on the intention – and you need to challenge that O line to get it done for you.
Within this defeat again were shots of serious effort and play by the Rams, particularly our fullback/MLB Lopez, who last year was a offensive guard/tackle on varsity. He is owning the fullback job. Mota ran with determination and played well on D. Sanderson is everywhere and should be proud of his play thus far.

Our young QB is a fighter, and the coaches need to put him in situations where he can be successful. Of all jobs in football, none have a longer learning curve than QB. My only other suggestion is find a way to get Anda the football, he will do good things if you do.

I thought Carr played smart football and Legace was impressive…and dangerous as a punt returner. Arcadia’s kicker has got a foot on kickoffs. They killed TC on a bubble screen well executed, and Carr ripped a TD run to the left following a crucial missed tackle.
Things have changed so drastically at TC as far as personnel and history – few seemed aware Backus was across the field with a red polo shirt on, and I wondered just what the bald one might be thinking as he took to the field passing a couple of the TC people who were instrumental in ending his 14 years as a TC football coach. Arcadia is lucky to have RB.

  • Bob Anon

GA, your Rams will “upset” my Spartans in November. I have faith in the head coach, but I wonder if the players are reading their press clippings. Blowing a 10-point lead to CV will not get it done.

  • Matt

Bob Anon, don’t give up. Were you at the game? La Canada couldn’t stop the run all night. They played with great heart and effort and fell short. If you put CV and LC together and put the best eleven on the field LC, at the most, starts one or two on each side of the ball. #11 on offense and #8 on defense are the top two who come to mind. If LC plays with that fire each week they will be just fine.

  • Honesty Speaks

MTownOneLove: V for Victory MonroVia? yea all ur noise, choke, choke hahaha….
I was unbiased before but now i am so glad that San Dimas won! Monrovia is a one trick pony, contain Bueno and you win.

    anonymous-

Do us all a favor, and dont talk until Monrovia wins their weak division. They are 0-9 in the CIF finals. They wouldnt make it to the finals in Arcadia’s divion. So do us all a favor and dont talk until your team does something. Ok? Thanks!

Philly- I know it was a terrible game for the Apaches, I had nothing to say.

  • New York

    Realist,
Monrovia took your team to the woodshed last week, and you are actually popping off? Wow. It really does not matter if Monrovia is 0-9 over the past 100+ years in the CIF finals. What does matter in this specific conversation is that Monrovia has bragging rights over your team for the next 51 weeks. shhhhhhhhh. be quiet boy.

  • anonymous

There you go again hhhnnnnnn. Honestly speaks/Realist…..Honestly & Really Your Team sucks and you becoming their number 1 fan, suck too. Try winning the pacific league no better yet, try beating Monrovia then come on this blog and gas it out with the big boys. Until then shhhhhh! etttttt. upppppp!

hey any one out there know scores for sat games?

  • Reno Hightower

Reno didn’t attend any games this Friday as Reno went to see the opening of the “Wall Street” sequel. Reno is still bitter that Gordon Gecko won the Academy Award. Reno won the sequel game, right? Anyway…

New York, many M-town haters out there at this moment. Reno feels that Maddox showed huge huevos in going for two with game on the line. Mckay (USC, not that TC guy) went for the win always. Reno likes the gutsy call.

Sweet Lou Torres sits the violators down and still wins, sending a huge message. My Way or The Highway! It pays off later for the Moors as they even their record. Again, Reno likes the call.

Reno feels that that the Titans were having a Kwame Loss Hangover. One game, okay. Not the whole season.

Reno heard that the Apaches played with class at the end of the TC/Arcadia game. Any truth to that rumor? Reno would have hung 100 on the hapless Rams. Best time to kick a man when he is down. GA or Realist, respond now!

San Gabriel Wins! Was Coach O feeling the heat or does it get hotter with Rosemead next? Fear the Kolf-Maniac! Reno says congrats on losing your virginity Coach O!

Cathedral should play South Pas at Oxy College. Then we all can go to the “Big O” dive bar afterwards. Braylon Edwards will be our designated driver.

Pacific League play opens this week. It is tougher than the Mid Valley Division Top Two and In policy. Four teams will be 1-0 in league play and four will be 0-1. Hoover vs. Glendale is week ten. Hold your breath; Reno doesn”t want to smell it!

Can Monrovia win a game east of the 605? If not, schedule Duarte and Mountain View as closest teams. South Hills doesn’t count now as an East 605 team with new “Admin Transfer” direction. Reno guesses that M-Town didn’t play defense in the UNLV passing games and it showed in the 4th vs. SD!

Wallace Gonzo play yet? Reno wants to know!

    Maranatha takes Salesian 29-28
Down 28-21 in the 4th the Minutemen rally for the win

  • John Wayne

Miguel- you keep losing. No faith in Natha! Once again thanks for picking Salesian. We love the continued disrespect! Salesian was a great team and a wonderful test for our boys!
Have you figured the game of football out yet? It’s not just the size, but the heart and Maranatha’s coaches- Could’ve tied the game, but “hung” them out there for the win with a 2 pt. conversian! 29-28!!!!

  • Anonymous

    hey John Wayne,

Congrats on beating a Division 13 team (that hadn’t beat a team w/ a winning record) by one point. yippee

Great amount of information to read, great love this blog

  • John Wayne

    Hey Anony…
I’m not looking for your congrats or any kind of crap from you (you must be a LaSalle fan?)…. This is about the disrespect that your love, Miguel throws out there. Instead of it being about football he plays favorites.
That was a hard hitting team and through adversity(you weren’t there to witness what went down, jackass) once again that Maranatha squad came through. Salesian has incredible fans that come to intimidate and they do a great job. So if you are from Salesian, hats off! If not, I got a couple of other words for you…. I think you can figure out what they are!
Next week Maranatha plays a super tough LaCanada team that had CVS beat…

anyone know the score of the Blair vs. Verbum Dei game

  • Fanofgoodfootball

Wow, Maranatha is extremely talented and young. They are so exciting to watch. Point is Maranatha is better than many of the local teams and is showing that. They still have problems protecting the ball but they will fix that. Guys please keep voting against MHS because the players like making fun of you.

    Dear Maranatha,
An injury depleted Rio Hondo Prep beat Salesian in the semi-finals last year. Therefore your win over Salesian is not impressive.

  • hs football fan

get over yourself…why is it when you lose it’s because your team is small , or there were key players missing.. that was then this is now.. your glory days have come and gone.. MHS and RHP are local teams .. how about we just respect each others team and get over it..I for one just like reading about local teams playing hard and palying like men. please stop acting like little boys…

    ForAround Town…
    re ashamed
The M-Town coach who told his team on the field at halftime to look at the SD CIF Champion banner at the end of the field and said that should be ours and after we win tonight you can tear it down… now that guy should be ASHAMED!

  • Toucan Sam

    RHP83
You LOST to BORON, moron! I’m sure if it could be allowed suit up your Rio Hondo team and put them on the field against the kids from MHS and you will ask if anyone can help remove the pair of cleats out of your @#$! You are obviously bitter!!!
The Salesian team this year was more impressive than what I thought they were going to be. Like I said, sitting in the stands while our boys were playing in their house proves that they have an incredible and wonderful hostile enviroment. Much needed for any team to grow.
Thanks for your input and pointing out your bitterness.
I know Miguel loves you guys and it was wonderful to see him pick another loser to win! Go Boron….

  • John Wayne

Miguel… you not making any comments on your blog now? Just curious what game YOU went to last night? Possibly the Blair game? Hope you aren’t hiding out. I know you had a BAD week of picks this week! hahahahah

  • A good idea

OK, I say we petition the CIF to have a “special” season after the playoffs. In this season, teams in the West San Gabriel Valley would go head to head. Here’s Maranatha’s schedule. How do you think they would do?

    Week 1 vs. Muir
    Week 2 vs. Pasadena
    Week 3 vs. San Gabriel
    Week 4 vs. Rosemead
    Week 5 vs. South Pas
    Week 6 vs. Monrovia
    Week 7 vs. Arcadia
    Week 8 vs. San Marino
    Week 9 vs. Alhambra
    Week 10 vs. St. Francis

  • Bob Anon

Miguel, you might want to pick Maranatha or the PSN’s subscription rate might go down! :D

Matt, haven’t made a game yet this year. Will try to make one of the road games, and maybe a home game, but probably a road game. The LC defense which played so well against Alhambra had some lapses against Glendale and had a tough time with a very good CV team. They need to make whatever necessary adjustments before facing Maranatha. I wonder if Arroyo QB Rivera will be back in time for Arroyo’s game.

  • John Wayne

Maranatha would have a hard time with the “depth” a few of those teams. Would they compete with the majority. I believe they could. Win? Possibly! But I do know from several sources that a few of those teams on your list WOULDN’T play the Maranatha team this season.
LaCanada will be an incredible test once again. Once again, if you were to pick a team that IS suppose to beat Maranatha; this would be the one. It would be a great pick for Miguel’s hate to come to fruition… LaCanada should win this week, depth really has it’s advantages!
At any point I have not challenged the blog fan base. The Maranatha hype is only pointed toward Miguel for CONSTANTLY picking against them!

  • think before you press “submit”

    Hey a good idea
Dont be bitter about your season or the direction it is going in. MHS plays who is on the schedule. We dont pretend to think for a moment that we are at the level of some of the teams on your wish list It is just so freaking amazing how a little school like MHS can cause such a stir of emotions (especially jealously) for simply winning football games. Hey, we could have stayed in the East Valley and possibly competed for a CIF championship but the administration felt it was time for us to take our program to the next level. Unlike other teams in the area, we at least had the guts to move up in divisions knowing full well the type of competition we would be facing. Our road by no means gets easier next week facing LC. They are well coached, play with tremendous confidence and will force us to play mistake free football. Stop wasting time and especially brain cells on trying to figure out how you can belittle MHS. Put that energy towards supporting your team and hopefully on your next post you will have the courage to state who you are representing so that sometime soon we can hook it up and let 48 minutes decide the better team. Hundred to one, Miguel would make us the underdogs (as usual)

  • Goldenarm

    Reno,

Even with all the bugs stuck to your windshield out there on Higway 99 near Buttonwillow – you always seem to see somewhat clearly through the moth intestines riding back and forth on your windshield wipers.. Hell, I would ride with you through Tule fog over the grapevine – who needs the CHP escort!

Anyway, did the Apaches lay off TC? I woud say it was more like not blatantly shooting for 75 points. In the 2nd half Arcadia had figured out what they needed to do…it was clear running up the gut was not the Apache strong point on offense. I think there is some respect in the Dimante/McFarland/Backus circle and none are looking to humiliate each others squad. So I disagree with you on that point. If you outplay, outwork and beat a team that is enough. Hockin a loogie on them when down – is just a plain bad idea.
365 days later after you forgot about it, the dude shows up with that same loogie he has preserved and stuck to the inside of his helmet. His goal – find you and kick your ass all night long. Moral: take the win, shake the opponents hand – the same way you would want it when a Servite or Mission Viejo buries your team by 5 tds.

I wouldn’t mind seeing how Monrovia would stack up to Muir, St. Francis and other valley schools. I don’t think the small schools you mention (Maranatha and, say, La Salle, Blair, Marshall Fundamental, etc.) would enjoy many victories against those teams but I do think they would be give the good fight.

  • Kentera

Great start for St. Francis. There is some tough sledding ahead, but with the coaching, players and discipline, I think it will help us prepare for the playoffs. Great job guys, keep it up.

Monrovia reminds me of the Buffalo Bills in the 90′s. Good team but can’t win the big one or when it counts most. Up 28-7 with 8 minutes to go and blow it. At least monrovia was brought down to ground zero. I believe, they were quite arrogant after the arcadia victory.

  • Footballfan

    FB EInstein,
You obviously don’t know football if you’d pick Marantha to tie SP. SP beat SG and you have SG beating Marantha. Watch some games before you reply to a post. You assesment is based off of previous years.

  • Toucan Sam

Saint Francis is SOLID this year! I may be a Maranatha fan, but ST. FRANCIS would beat any of the valley teams! I know Muir has a crap load of talent, just not sure why they are not killing opponents? Maybe coaching? A lot like PHS… lots of skills, but not great coaching. I do think a mistake free Maranatha team could definitely beat this years HS team and probably at least 4 other schools on the “list”. South Pas went and cancelled on Maranatha from I have heard…. again, another school not wanting to take that “chance” on getting beat by a little tiny private school. Who’s to blame them? Maranatha doesn’t quite have the numbers yet to play these larger talented schools (from a depth stand point)…. as someone else on here pointed out. But as their reputation grows as a solid football team and a community that seems to really backing them- then the future looks great!
We have so many gifted schools out here, but it comes down a lot to coaching and of course the ref’ing crew…(sarcasm) That comment is for all those that spend their nights after losing blaming it solely on the horrible refs!

  • FB Einstein

    Re: footballfan

Please dont question my expertise. My name alone should provide you with the knowledge of capabilities. I have the pleasure of watching multiple games every week because I know people who know people who own video cameras, so calm yourself. Furthermore, I was giving Maranatha credit by saying they would tie SP because SP has a solid team this year. Ive seen La Canada, SP and Glendale in person or on film this year and Maranatha will lose this week by two TDs.

Moving on…I was at the Rosemead @ SM game Friday. With Arcadia coming to TC, I thought it was the best chance to see SM before the RHL starts. I wasnt very impressed with SM. Their defense played well, but they have glaring weaknesses, most notably at DL. The offense was just plain bad. I think the loss of Kwamae Do is going to be a tough thing for them to overcome. In 07 when TC lost Will Do (Kwamae’s big bro) they were able to ride Joey Escobedo and Morgan Hatch to keep the offense alive. The current SM team doesnt seem to have these guys. As much as I respect Coach Mooney and his staff I just think they are overrated and in for a long season.

With that said…I believe Rosemead will have its way with San Gabriel this Friday. Rosemead is tough and they do what they do, bring pressure and pound the rock. They win games at the line of scrimmage.

TCs offensive line needs a wakeup call. They look like electric football. With that said they have a chance at a W this week vs. South El Monte. Go Rams!!!

“OK, I say we petition the CIF to have a “special” season after the playoffs. In this season, teams in the West San Gabriel Valley would go head to head. Here’s Maranatha’s schedule. How do you think they would do?”

    Week 1 vs. Muir—-LOSE BY 60
    Week 2 vs. Pasadena—LOSE BY 20
    Week 3 vs. San Gabriel—LOSE BY 14
    Week 4 vs. Rosemead—LOSE BY 21
    Week 5 vs. South Pas—tie
    Week 6 vs. Monrovia—LOSE BY 55
    Week 7 vs. Arcadia—LOSE BY 50

Ive read alot of barking and alot of hurt Monrovia fans. And You know what I dont blame them. Monrovia should of had this game…as far as Monrovia being on some sort of high-horse after whooping Arcadia, thats completely false! If anything monrovia should of been looking ahead to the san dimas game…after watching the highlights…Monrovia will have the best defense in the rio hondo league by far….But that being said…come playoffs…theres no reason why our DB’s should be getting beat like they were in the 4th qtr. I was very shocked by that because we have the speed to cover any receiving core in our schedule in my opinion….I really felt bad for Bueno…I know how bad he wanted that game and couldnt get it done…I hate to type this…But in all honesty Monrovia is the Dallas Cowboys…Both teams Should be 3-0 but are not!!!! And its very frustrating…Like Aram said, monrovia was the Glendora game but turnovers…and Monrovia had the Saints by the throat in three quarters but let it slip away. Props to maddox for going for the win..I questioned it at first, but I know if I was head coach I’d do the same damn thing. And Now Miguel has lost his faith in monrovia…and has picked South Hills to beat the cats! Oh well…when the schedule came out, I feared south hills over glendora and san dimas, because I thought Monrovia could pull those games out. But let be known I Never said I believed monrovia would come out of this pre-league schedule undefeated….New York said it, and it is what it is….I just hope Monrovia doesnt have any sort of hangover from last weeks lost to the saints. And they take out their frustration on that last and put it to South Hills. Congrats to San Dimas for winning last week. I HOPE we get to see them in the playoffs whether it be for semi’s or a finals rematch…..I dont think theres any other team better right now that are ranked in the mid-valley division…As far as monrovia not winning the big games…..I cant even deny that….The rematch against Rosemead…the rematch against La Salle…Playoff game a few years back against Paraclete…..Its hard…but at least I know that this tough schedule thus far will make us much stronger in league….No one in league will get past monrovias defense. Not South Pas, Not San marino without Do…Not even La Canada! Lets Go Cats give it to South Hills…

Losing weight without exercise is one of the most widely used statements in the weight loss industry. Is diet better than exercise? Is it possible to lose weight and keep it off without any kind of activity at all? Well, the answer to that is NO. Exercising is a very important factor and dieting alone will not help you lose weight. To lose weight you need to have caloric deficit. There are two ways how you can do that. One is to decrease the amount of calories you consume (eat less). The other is to increase the amount of calories you burn (exercise more).
