My apologies to Jeff and his family because this is about his interview but this is the only blog in relation to McCarthy that is new,
After watching Ellis McCarthy on film, I am completely in awe at the talent this kid has. If he puts his mind to it, will play on Sundays. I would consider this kid to be a bigger recruit than Dietrich Riley (UCLA), Todd Golper (UCLA), Kevan Walker (Oregon St.), Sebastian Valenzuela (Wash. St.), and Lance Mitchell (Oregon St.) and literally every other kid in the last five years from this area that has come out playing to play Division 1 ball.
In terms of raw talent, this kid is incredible. He has some flaws but his lateral ability for running at 6’5 300 pounds as well as his straight-line speed. Wow! If he learns how to play with his hands, have a more forward lean off the line and learn to key the line in front of him, he will be an absolute monster not that he isn’t already one.
I am just in shock and really impressed. This kid should get recruited by every Division 1 school in the nation. Wow.
Ellis, hope you continue your success and make all of us proud!

i dont think he made one actual “play” on this one film. however he did dominate the linemen he faced, the qb also evaded the pressure well

I really hope Monrovia is not taking Worthy lightly under the premise that “Ellis is better”. First of all, they likely will not be matched up on each other anyway. Second, it would be stupid to take a kid likely who is built like this, explodes like he does and gives an interview like this demonstrating his knowledge of Monrovia’s receivers. It’s a bit scary when a Nose Guard knows the name of his opponent’s receivers. This tells me that he and likely his entire defense will be very well prepared.
