Football: Breast Cancer Awareness night at San Gabriel.

| | Comments (3) |

The fourth annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night will be held when San Gabriel (1-4) hosts Montebello (2-3). Boosters will sell pink bracelets, ribbon pins, and T-shirts. Gift baskets also will be raffled off with proceeds benefiting breast cancer awareness. Four years ago, San Gabriel coach Jude Oliva and his then-fiancee, Diana, started raising awareness at San Gabriel High when Oliva learned that three of his players' mothers each were diagnosed with breast cancer. The Olivas helped purchase pink wristbands for coaches and players, and they also purchased pink ribbon stickers that were placed on the back of the Matadors' helmets. San Gabriel will do the same Friday and will wear the ribbons the rest of the season.
