Baseball: Alhambra on a roll with Briones, Arroyo.

Alhambra (13-3, 8-1) went with sophomore Marco Briones when the Moors were in a pinch last week against Montebello. Briones pitched out of a jam and recorded a big Almont League victory to all but secure the Moors’ eighth consecutive league title.

Briones pitched four innings of relief and gave up just three hits with no runs and three strikeouts. He went on to pitch six strong innings later that week and pitched the Moors to a 1-0 victory over Bell Gardens. He went six innings in that game, and Andrew Arroyo picked up the save. Juan Morales produced his second game-winning RBI for the week. And in a doubleheader against San Marino that weekend, Arroyo picked up his second save of the week.
