In week one Rio Hondo Prep and Mission face off in a rematch of last year’s championship game. That seems pretty important, doesn’t it?

    • Steve Ramirez

FF, yes, it is a big game, but since its in SLO,I went with Alemany at Muir. This is a list of what would be our feature games at this time. It’s a fluid list that could change, especially after the season starts. But for now, this is how I see it.

      • New York

        Stevie,
That same week we have two Pasadena schools located on Sierra Madre Blvd squaring off: PHS @ La Salle! The PASADENA Star News should love that game.

        • GP AKA Green Machine

La Salle is the favorites…who would have thought.

        • Steve Ramirez

Well, since I have La Sale as the lead game the week before, I think it’s fair to go with Alemany at Muir.

          • New York

Do you anticipate a good matchup this year? If Muir is projected to get their blown out again, then making it a higher profile game only serves Alemany’s recruiting purposes even better. Besides, one-sided games should never be the featured game, especially if a good match between two local schools is available. Just my opinion.

          • Steve Ramirez

Well, you could say the same thing for La Salle-PHS. La Salle is an up-and-coming team and PHS lost a lot of seniors from a team that struggled. Like I said, the list is fluid and will change as the season goes on. Who knows another top game might emerge after week zero results. The best game of the night might be Ayala-Monrovia, but we’re going to have a lot of opps to lead with Monrovia, which has high-profile games vs. South Hills, San Dimas and St. Francis. But for now, I’ll go with Alemany-Muir.

          • New York

I am unclear on what you think would be the same thing for La Salle-PHS as what I mentioned for Muir and Alemany? Are you talking about La Salle and Alemany recruiting? If so, NO that is NOT the same thing. La Salle is part of the local community, whether it is a private or a public school. That’s right. Private schools are still part of the community. Public schools don’t have a monopoly on that. Local KIDS still attend those schools. Local people coach and teach at those schools.

          • Steve Ramirez

I meant it could be a blow out in La Salle’s favor. If they met last year, La Sall wins big.

          • Football 1

La Salle Plays in a Weak league. That’s why theygot beat in the 1st round playoff game.

          • Steve Ramirez

From the eye test, they were better than Pasadena, which might have been the most un-disciplined team I saw last year, getting three consecutive procedure penalties against Muir.

          • Football 1

I agree with you Steve, Pasadena is not very good at all.

          • Football 1

We shall see Steve how good La Salle is. They open up with a Powerfull Cathedral Team. The Phantoms are loaded this year with alot of size and Speed. .

  • AHS

apachejoe aka Jim Leahy. You are on notice.

  • bigfatfan

what’s with San Gabriel dropping South Pas in Week 1 game, and then going off to play glendale? makes no sense, unless they are still pissed off about SP beating two out of the last three years.

    • Steve Ramirez

Likely a change in the coaching staff.

      • GP AKA Green Machine

San Gabriel must be really worried about what they got this year..

        • Steve Ramirez

Well, GP, SG did lose its top two players, and with a new coaching staff, there could be some early-season growing pains.

Will you have the prep football magazine for 2013. I enjoy reading the teams bio.
