Friday Night Final: Scoby, Monrovia too much for Arcadia; St. Francis, Rio win; Maranatha suffers first lost

How good is Arcadia? We should have been asking how good is Kurt Scoby? Very good. The senior running back ran all over helpless Arcadia, rushing for 292 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to a 49-7 victory. The night also was good to St. Francis, which routed Righetti, 35-14, and Rio Hondo Prep, which beat Big Bear, 28-18. It was not kind to La Salle and Maranatha, who suffered big losses.

How the Top 10 Fared
1. Monrovia (2-0) def. No. 8 Arcadia (1-1), 49-7 – Combine the best back in SGVN with a dominant line and you get blow-out city.
2. St. Francis (2-0) def. Righetti, 35-14 — Ty Gangi throws for 269, 3 TDs as Knights look Golden
3. Muir (1-1) — Idle…Hosts Verdugo Hills next week
No. 4 Rio Hondo Prep (2-1) def. Big Bear 28-18 — Nate Tayco rushed for 145 yards as Kares rebound from last week’s loss.
No. 5 San Marino (1-1) lost to Crescenta Valley, 56-53, on Thursday — Offensive impressive, defense not so much
No. 6 La Salle (1-2) lost to Bishop Diego, 43-16 — Lancers have scheduled up…but how will their psyche handle another blow-out loss?
No. 7 Maranatha (2-1) lost to Azusa, 33-14 — There’s still some work to do in West Pasadena. Minutemen no match for Aztecs.
No. 9 Pasadena Poly (2-0) was idle — Panthers rest up after game with Campbell Hall was cancelled.
No. 10 Duarte (1-2) lost to Montclair, 38-14 — What happened to the Falcons? Second blow-out loss in as many weeks is puzzling. Next up, Montview League.
