Star-News Pick’Em: Who survives, or should I say who doesn’t? I have four of six advancing, with San Marino and Duarte the odd teams out

pickem

Keith and I are matching our knowledge of the area and high school football by offering our picks on the area’s games. This week, and until the end of the season, we will pick the rest of the brackets in which we have local teams.

LAIR: 169-28 (8-3 last week)
RAMIREZ: 164-33 (7-4 last week)

Last week: A very tough week as Keith picked up another win. The difference was me missing on St. Genevieve over Pasadena Poly. We both missed on Pomona over Rosemead, Carpinteria over La Salle and Duarte over Maranatha.
This week: We are now down to final area teams left. The most intriguing game appears to be San Marino hosting San Dimas in the Mid-Valley Division. The visiting Saints appear to have to much for the Titans. I also like Monrovia over Montebello, also in the Mid-Valley; Muir over Los Altos in Southeast, Rio Hondo Prep over Excelsior in the Northeast and St. Francis over Camarillo in the Western.

  • They were in the rankings.

    Duarte doesn’t count anymore?

I view them more as a Tribune school…very fringe for the Star-News, but for you, I’ve added them in the picks.

      • Go Falcons

Thanks, Steve! I see your point though.

Agree with your MidValley picks with one exception. I think San Marino wins. I just think they got something going and that combined with a great coach will get them by on Friday

I think it will be a great game….but unless they shore up the defense, I can’t see them stopping San Dimas, so we’re looking at a repeat of Crescenta Valley-San Marino, won by CV, 56-53

The Saints Defense is tough….This won’t be a barn burner. 41-21 SD. The Titan Defense has a tough time stopping good running game. No one can stop Scoby, but they could not stop Soph RB Kam Johnson. He is a big time back in the making…but only a 10 grader. If they can’t stop him, they won’t stop Moryaga and Martinez. San Marino is really going to have to hold the ball in this game to keep it tight. Otherwise the saints run away with this one.

Guess that is why they play guys.

  • GP AKA Green Machine

    Dbar will beat La Serna

    Schurr wil beat Arroyo

    Duarte beats Bishop Diego
