Twelve San Gabriel Valley area teams earned spots in the preseason CIF-Southern Section water polo poll.
La Canada has the top spot in the west valley, ranked fourth in Division 3. The Spartans are followed by Montebello in fifth, South Pasadena in eighth and Temple City in others (12th).
Division 4: Flintridge Prep is ninth and in others is La Habra (11th), Pasadena (12th) and Pasadena Poly (14th).
Division 5: Los Altos is No. 2 with Claremont the top seed. La Serna is fifth and Walnut seventh.
Division 2: Damien is sixth.
