BIG GAME ADVANCE: ARCADIA AT MONROVIA
Monrovia High School football coach Chris Stevens will have some extra motivation on Friday when his Wildcats host nearby Arcadia in a key nonleague showdown for both teams.
Stevens’ mother, aunt and uncle all graduated from Arcadia and will be coming in from out of town to be in attendance at Friday’s game. Where will they sit and who will they be rooting for? Simple, on the Monrovia side rooting for Stevens’ Wildcats … or so they say.
“That’s going to be exciting for me to have my whole family there,” Stevens said. “There’s a lot of people who have ties to both schools and families that have come from both schools. We certainly don’t want to take for granted that this is a big rivalry just because it’s two school sitting right on top of each other.”
