ST. FRANCIS 45, CALABASAS 7
LA CANADA >> A blocked punt certainly does not change the makeup of a football game.
But John Carroll’s block certainly had a lasting effect Thursday night. The St. Francis High School senior blocked a punt, picked it up at the 2-yard line and scored early in the first half. It gave the undefeated Golden Knights a 14-0 lead en route to a 45-7 nonleague victory over visiting Calabasas.
“The ball got snapped and I ran right through and blocked it,” Carroll said. “It felt better than scoring that way than catching and running for a touchdown. The team got a little hyped. We got excited about that.”
