STRATHMORE >> The Maranatha High School girls soccer team has found ways to mount rallies from deficits.
Saturday, the Minutemen had to mount their biggest rally. Not once, but twice. First they had to rally to just make it to their first CIF State Southern California Regional Division IV championship game on time. Then they had to rally to defeat Strathmore 3-1.
Less than an hour into their four-hour drive to Strathmore, located on the southeastern edge of the Sierra north of Porterville, the Minutemen got stuck on Interstate 5 for an hour because of an accident.
Maranatha did make it on time and the Minutemen then had to rally in the game, scoring twice in the final five minutes Saturday afternoon. Maranatha trailed 1-0 at halftime.
