St. Lucy’s defeats La Salle in five game

PASADENA It is all about finishing touches. St. Lucy’s Priory High School was able to get those final touches and host La Salle just could not quite get there in a nonleague rivalry matchup on Tuesday night.

The Regents (3-0) rallied to defeat the Lancers (5-5) in five games, the final game extended to 18-16.

“We all just know what we’re capable of doing and it’s much better,” St. Lucy’s senior Loryn Carter said of finishing. “We wanted to prove to ourselves to set the tone for the future. Hopefully we can clean it up.

“I had faith in us. I have seen us do it before.”

Carter had seven of her match-high 21 kills in the fifth game and managed to re-enter the match at just the right time in the rotation with it tied at 15. She had two more kills and a Lancers kill attempt on the final point went into the net to give the Regents a 16-25, 24-26, 25-20, 25-19, 18-6 victory.
