Golf
CIF State/SCGA Southern California Regionals — Walnut High School’s Alrik Pan and Arcadia’s Edward Wu advanced to next week’s CIF State golf championships on Wednesday. Pan shot a 1-under-par 71 at Brookside Golf Course and Wu shot an even-par 72. Wu earned the final spot, advancing in a two-player playoff. The state playoffs will be at San Gabriel Country Club.

Boys tennis
CIF Individual Sectionals — Arcadia’s Charles Deng swept Arroyo’s Derek Lam in the third round to advance to the CIF round of 32. The doubles teams of Jun Nakamine and Nicholas Figueira and Brian Kim and Subham Dikit also advance to the round of 32 for Arcadia.

Two Monrovia High School soccer players will continue their playing careers next season.
Valerie Ochoa, a four-year defensive starter, will play at NAIA Division II Kansas Weslyan. She was a captain for three years, a scholar-athlete and All-CIF. She was the Rio Hondo League defensive player of the year.

Ariana Robles, also a four-year member of the varsity team, will play at NCAA Division III La Verne. She was also a captain and scholar-thlete. She was Rio Hondo League’s co-goalkeeper of the year.

Torrey Pines 5, Arcadia 2 — Nicholas Figueira won in singles and the team of Ken Nakamine and Matt Kim won in doubles for the Apaches (24-3) in a first-round Southern California Regional tournament loss.
San Marino 6, Canyon crest 1 — The No. 3 seed Tartans advanced to Friday’s second round against Palm Desert. The teams will play at The Claremont Club.

Pasadena Poly 8, Rancho Mirage 7 (8 innings) — Brennah Bronk went 4 for 5 with a double, triple and three runs scored and Catalina Alonso went 2 for 4 with two runs scored for the Panthers (11-9) in a CIF-SS Division 6 second-round game.
