Gabrielino 3, Rosemead 0 — Leslie Rivera had seven kills for the Eagles’ 25-9, 25-9, 25-9 Mission Valley League opener. Gabrielino is 10-3.

Girls tennis
Alhambra 10, Temple City 8 — Justine Dondonay swept in singles and the team of Samantha Jones and Jessica Guanzon swept in doubles for the Moors (7-0) in a nonleague match. The team of Amy Kim and Sandy Jiang won two in doubles for Alhambra. It was the Rams’ first loss of the season.

Boys water polo
Schurr 17, Pasadena 9 — Juan Mena scored six goals and Isaac Bello and De’Unta Ferguson both scored four goals to lead the Spartans (1-0) to a nonleague win. Caleb Vance scored five goals, Ismar Sarac scored twice and goalie Isaac Child had five saves for Pasadena (1-2).

La Salle 3, South Pasadena 0 — Sophia Anderson had 16 kills, Brianna Valdez had 19 assists and Ravin Rhodes had four blocks for the Lancers (9-4) in a 25-12, 25-15, 25-18 nonleague match.

Arcadia 16, Alhambra 1 — Matthew Garcia scored four goals, Blake Jauregui had three and Samuel Wiggins scored twice for the Apaches (4-1) in a nonleague victory. Goalie Sebastian Petcu had seven saves for Arcadia. Alhambra’s Wilson Kiang scored twice.

Arcadia 16, La Canada 0 — Rachelle Yang swept in singles and the team of Angel Pan and Sydney Tran swept in doubles for the Apaches (6-0) in a nonleague match. The last two sets were not played by coaches’ mutual agreement.
La Salle 16, St. Monica 2 — Abby Siracusa, Cameron Agapito and Julia Jones swept in singles for the visiting Lancers (4-3, 2-1) in a Del Rey League match.
Maranatha 13, Azusa 5 — Angela Heieh and Malena Smith swept in singles and the team of Michaela Wilkins and Madelyn Hernandez swept in doubles to lead the Minutemen to their first win of the season. The team of Reagan Atallah and Rose Zhang won two in doubles for Maranatha (1-3).

Monrovia 3, Maranatha 0 — Mikaela Ashworth had 12 kills, Hannah Beckler had seven kills and Tiffany Godley had 12 digs and three kills for the Minutemen (7-2) in a 25-18, 25-10, 25-13 nonleague loss.
