What does your pet want for Christmas?

Find out with a visit to Santa Claus!

I'm not sure how the guy playing Santa feels about all this, but there are special times set aside this year at the South Bay Galleria (1815 Hawthorne Blvd., at Artesia, in Redondo Beach) where you can bring your pets to have their pictures taken with Santa.

santa claus.jpgSanta will be available for your pets from 7 to 8 p.m. every Monday between now and Christmas (Nov. 24, and Dec. 1 and 8; hours are 8 to 9 p.m. Dec. 15).

Let's see, I think Tess just wants her broken toe to be all better by Christmas so she can play fetch again.

And Cowboy? Well, he pretty much has everything he wants -- which is Tess. He loves Tess. I mean he really loves her. A lot. So maybe Santa Claus can persuade Cowboy to stop humping Tess so much at the dog park. I think Cowboy would be sufficiently scared of Santa Claus to listen, that is if I could ever drag him that close to the big bearded guy in the red suit (highly unlikely).

So what do your pets want this year? Do you buy holiday gifts for your dogs or cats? How about for your friends' dogs or cats? (I always send over cat gifts to Shirley, my good "cat person" friend from the old neighborhood, and she gives presents to my dogs.)

I know our reader San Pedro Dogs is busy this time of year with her holiday baking. In case you don't know about her, she's got a hometown biz making specialized biscuits and treats for dogs, all done out of her home. And they're all homemade and healthy.

Check it out online (www.sanpedrodogs.com).

About the Bloggers

Daily Breeze reporter Donna Littlejohn has shared her homes with a succession of wonderful, funny, and occasionally difficult canines -- Muffin, Fritz, Ellie, Mercy, Pilgrim and now Cowboy, an Australian shepherd-border collie, and Tess, a border collie. From strong-willed terriers to weirdly obsessed Australian shepherds, they've invaded her world with boundless energy, wet noses, muddy paws and soggy tennis balls. But they've really brought so much more than that -- like laughter and joy, some unexpected life lessons, and more than a few tears along the way.

He now owns the loudest dog in the South Bay(Video: Rocket the Dog) and is the least popular person on his block. He spends his free time in dog parks, pet shops and always has an extra plastic bag in his pocket just in case. He also has a cat.
