Dog park days
I took Cowboy and Tess over to the Redondo Beach Dog Park on Saturday, a nice change of pace especially because they have so much more space there than the park we usually frequent.

Tess, below, managed to make friends with some of the kids at the park. After they agreed to throw the tennis ball for her, she was all "theirs" for the day. Such devotion.

As for Cowboy, he just hung out like cowboys do, loping to and fro, across the landscape.

Daily Breeze reporter Donna Littlejohn has shared her homes with a succession of wonderful, funny, and occasionally difficult canines -- Muffin, Fritz, Ellie, Mercy, Pilgrim and now Cowboy, an Australian shepherd-border collie, and Tess, a border collie. From strong-willed terriers to weirdly obsessed Australian shepherds, they've invaded her world with boundless energy, wet noses, muddy paws and soggy tennis balls. But they've really brought so much more than that -- like laughter and joy, some unexpected life lessons, and more than a few tears along the way.

You're not the only one confused. This comment refers to our earlier posts about two Labs needing a new home. You can read the threads here:

The snopes post is correct, these were dogs in the L.A. area who needed a home because their owner had to downsize to a rental unit that did not accept large dogs. The two were placed in a new home nearby where the original owner's children can still visit them. Our original post, based on information with photos sent to me by a family member of some church friends, wound up being linked to numerous emails, creating all kinds of confusion about where the dogs actually were from and whether or not they'd found a home -- not to mention whether the entire thing was a hoax.
A reporter with the Washington Post wrote up the saga (linked to our posts now) that pretty much explains what happened.
ok, I am a bit confused. I helped find Coco and Cookie a home last week here in North Carolina, and now I see them on Snopes.com and on this site. Are these the two same dogs or could there be another pair somewhere in California with the same story? Just trying to figure out this story.
this is the reply from a friend that helped me find the dogs a home here in North Carolina.
Peg - Are you serious? Of course it was the same ones - Adam's mom passed the memo from you along to someone at the gym and she did go get the dogs. Its a small world because the Email you sent me worked? You crazy!

Nay,
was this our Cookie and Coco?
Did Linda's friend actually go pick the dogs up? This is too weird.
