Daily Breeze reporter Donna Littlejohn has shared her homes with a succession of wonderful, funny, and occasionally difficult canines -- Muffin, Fritz, Ellie, Mercy, Pilgrim and now Cowboy, an Australian shepherd-border collie, and Tess, a border collie. From strong-willed terriers to weirdly obsessed Australian shepherds, they've invaded her world with boundless energy, wet noses, muddy paws and soggy tennis balls. But they've really brought so much more than that -- like laughter and joy, some unexpected life lessons, and more than a few tears along the way.

Josh Grossberg grew up with the usual array of animals: goldfish, dogs, hamsters, parakeets and turtles. He now owns the loudest dog in the South Bay(Video: Rocket the Dog) and is the least popular person on his block. He spends his free time in dog parks, pet shops and always has an extra plastic bag in his pocket just in case. He also has a cat.

I am a huge lover of animals and the sick elderly, but in concern for the animal I can't help but think that maybe Baxter would be happier in Rainbow Bridge with God. It seems maybe he may be a prisoner in a body that does not work any longer. I am interested in further information on Baxter's situation. How did he get like this? Does his Dr. feel he is happy and his best interest are the most issue? I recently had to make a decision to allow my best partner, my reason for getting up every morning,to have his happiness was more important than my own selfish need. His quality of life would have meant for him to lie still and motionless like Baxter. I knew that was not what Jerrie would want even though he would have stayed and never complain. I choose to release his happy soul from his prison and keep the memories of him as I knew him. Please contact me about Baxter and how he is. Thanks Sincerely and God Bless you for your caring soul. Sandra N.
Alas, Sandra, Baxter is already on the Rainbow Bridge. You can read about him at his Web site. You can find more at momentswithbaxter.com
Dear Toast,
I don't love all animals. I'm thinking of one in particular that I don't care for at all.
Josh
Josh, this is beautiful. Thanks for posting it. I am thisclose to tears, and I am sure they will start pouring when I look at Baxter's Web site. Thank you for your love of all animals, and thanks again for posting this video.
How touching... brought tears to my eyes. I believe Baxter enjoyed every minute to be close to those whose lives were compromised, to be loved as he loved ... up to the end.
