SPCA pulls 84 cats from North Valley residence
Officers with the SPCA-LA assisted an elderly woman today who had become overwhelmed by her own good intentions.
They removed 84 cats that had been living inside her home:
Remarkably, all the cats appear to be in good condition and no charges will be filed.
"This is a case of a well-meaning person in a situation that grew completely out of control," said spca-LA President Madeline Bernstein. "She contacted spcaLA for help and upon investigation, our humane officers agreed to assist."
...
"This was a big undertaking that went smoothly," Bernstein said. "It's amazing what can be done when we all work together."
Animal cruelty can be reported to spcaLA's Animal Cruelty Tipline at 1-800-540-SPCA.
The SPCA will work to find new homes for the cats.
