Weather makes for a close call for BiBi the dog
The story of "Bi Bi" ended happily, though, according to the Herald Sun:
Owner Sue Drummond looked on helplessly as BiBi was tossed into surging waves.
"I thought he was going to sink and then maybe I wouldn't be able to find him," she said. "But I didn't really want to hop in the water either because I wasn't quite sure if I could make it to shore with a struggling dog."
Raden Soemawinata, 20, who was at the scene to scatter his grandmother's ashes during a family ceremony, took immediate action and plunged into the churning bay.
"It was pretty cold and windy, but it wasn't such a hard decision to jump in, it wasn't such a great feat," he said.
BiBi is rescued by Raden Soemawinata.

Daily Breeze reporter Donna Littlejohn has shared her homes with a succession of wonderful, funny, and occasionally difficult canines -- Muffin, Fritz, Ellie, Mercy, Pilgrim and now Cowboy, an Australian shepherd-border collie, and Tess, a border collie. From strong-willed terriers to weirdly obsessed Australian shepherds, they've invaded her world with boundless energy, wet noses, muddy paws and soggy tennis balls.
