Winter pics: Baby

Baby, as it turns out, likes Christmas. At least she likes lying under the Christmas tree.

Baby belongs to my colleague, Art Marroquin, who covers LAX and the Port of Los Angeles for us at the Daily Breeze.

chirstmas art's baby cat.jpgThe Christmas tree skirt, in fact, is her very favorite place to hang out these days, Art says.

If Baby looks a bit peeved in this photo, Art says it's because he started snapping pictures of her. Cats don't like that.

Baby's story:

Baby moved in with me in March 2008, but she was a stray outside my mom's place for a few months prior to that. She collapsed at my mom's doorstep one day, apparently weak from hunger. My mom started feeding her and placed some blankets in a box for her to sleep in. When it was feeding time, my mom would call out "come here little baby," because we didn't know whether the cat was male or female. Unfortunately, the obnoxious name stuck and she's been called "Baby" ever since.

Shortly afterward, we cleaned her up and she moved in with me. She's very quiet, but very loving. She enjoys sitting in my lap for a good rub-down, looking out open windows and being carried around like ... you guessed it, a baby.

What a lovely story. I am so glad that you managed to save her and bring her into your family. Talking of Christmas trees, my two little dogs have a terrible habit of drinking the water out of the pot that it stands in!

About the Bloggers

Daily Breeze reporter Donna Littlejohn has shared her homes with a succession of wonderful, funny, and occasionally difficult canines -- Muffin, Fritz, Ellie, Mercy, Pilgrim and now Cowboy, an Australian shepherd-border collie, and Tess, a border collie. From strong-willed terriers to weirdly obsessed Australian shepherds, they've invaded her world with boundless energy, wet noses, muddy paws and soggy tennis balls. But they've really brought so much more than that -- like laughter and joy, some unexpected life lessons, and more than a few tears along the way.

He spends his free time in dog parks, pet shops and always has an extra plastic bag in his pocket just in case. He also has a cat.
