Christmas tidubl 3 raja funny.jpgHere's a pet family that clearly gets into the whole holiday pictures thing.

Raja is the black rottie mix, Baloo is the shepherd and the cat is The Monkey. Some additional photos and their stories will be on the jump:

Here's the thing about cats.

They're just not that into you or your bright ideas of how to have "fun."

Be sure to read the jump and the owner's story about these rescued pets.

I asked the owner in Lomita to send some information about these guys. They're all rescues. Here's her reply:

Raja (the black rottie mix) was rescued after being dumped in Alta Vista park in Redondo on the 4th of July. I'm an officer there and heard the call go out. She was so cute. I took her home. She was about 6 months old and completely crazy.

She just turned 8 yesterday. Friends bought me obedience lessons for my b-day the year I rescued her. She passed with flying colors. She is very sweet but is easily distracted by anything, especially food. ....

Baloo is a product of one of our K9 dogs and the handler's personal dog. I got him at 6 weeks old. Raja's mommy instincts kicked in and they've been best friends since. Baloo will be 8 years in March. He is too smart for his own good, defeating most barricades of containment (like pushing a chair across the patio so he could jump on the spa). ... He stays by my side when i'm sick ... He tries to be a 90-pound lap dog. Outside the house, he is very protective of me and Raja.

The Monkey was rescued from the gutters of Hawthorne. A friend of mine is a vet tech and nursed him back to life, as the rest of his litter died. He is brain damaged from that near death experience. He stays in the backyard with the dogs. I think if he had gone to a family he would have been put to sleep.

About the Bloggers

Daily Breeze reporter Donna Littlejohn has shared her homes with a succession of wonderful, funny, and occasionally difficult canines -- Muffin, Fritz, Ellie, Mercy, Pilgrim and now Cowboy, an Australian shepherd-border collie, and Tess, a border collie. From strong-willed terriers to weirdly obsessed Australian shepherds, they've invaded her world with boundless energy, wet noses, muddy paws and soggy tennis balls. But they've really brought so much more than that -- like laughter and joy, some unexpected life lessons, and more than a few tears along the way.

He now owns the loudest dog in the South Bay(Video: Rocket the Dog) and is the least popular person on his block. He spends his free time in dog parks, pet shops and always has an extra plastic bag in his pocket just in case. He also has a cat.
