So here's another (perhaps our last) winter/holiday "pets" photo (the term is used rather loosely for this particular post) sent in by the folks at the Cowboy Boot Camp on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Seems every year the camp members and others in the community gather to spread some Christmas cheer through the trails in Rolling Hills Estates. This year's event attracted 20 riders.

Above is Bennett Rheingold and his decked-out horse (check out the palm tree on the horse's hip).

By the way, that's Josh's sister, one of our faithful readers and owner of Cosmo & Sherman, the puppy, at the bottom right wearing the purple shirt. And today's her birthday. Happy Birthday, Darlene!

If this sounds like fun but you missed it, there are other holiday-themed rides coming up, including one for Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day.

Hi guys,
My wife Debbi and I were on the ride. She's fourth back in the second picture riding our horse Tiemen, a Friesian who we recently acquired and moved up to RHE, her dream horse. As bootcampers, it was great to get together with everyone and do the ride.
Debbi graced the cover page photo a few years ago in your paper dressed as a pirate giving out 'gold' coins to kids at the Festival Del Arte's in HB.

Great reading the blog about Bootcamp. Great group and helped us TONS before buying a horse.

About the Bloggers

Daily Breeze reporter Donna Littlejohn has shared her homes with a succession of wonderful, funny, and occasionally difficult canines -- Muffin, Fritz, Ellie, Mercy, Pilgrim and now Cowboy, an Australian shepherd-border collie, and Tess, a border collie. From strong-willed terriers to weirdly obsessed Australian shepherds, they've invaded her world with boundless energy, wet noses, muddy paws and soggy tennis balls. But they've really brought so much more than that -- like laughter and joy, some unexpected life lessons, and more than a few tears along the way.
