The men who rescued the dog today from the river in Vernon talk about their adventure.

What a bunch of great guys.

That was a great shared moment of triumph for so many! Now we have a whole lot of people screaming about the costs and risks associated with saving life, and attempting to devalue the life of the dog.
I'm exactly one of the people that the firefighters speak of when they say "if we didn't do it, someone might have attempted to rescue the dog themselves".
It is also my firm belief that many others reading this blog would have gladly been right alongside me, in front of me even, and that such a belief is a cornerstone in a much larger foundation.
Blessings to all, and an electronic group hug for everyone of us who want to throw some love out to the firefighters - and their supervisors - who could certainly use and appreciate more support and appreciation every day.
Bite on Lucky/Vernon! (that bite was a good sign of the dog's physical condition, told me that he wasn't overly tired or injured badly to be reacting so naturally to the events at hand)

Dogs + dog park + water = a mess, but lots of fun was the previous entry in this blog.

About the Bloggers

Daily Breeze reporter Donna Littlejohn has shared her homes with a succession of wonderful, funny, and occasionally difficult canines -- Muffin, Fritz, Ellie, Mercy, Pilgrim and now Cowboy, an Australian shepherd-border collie, and Tess, a border collie. From strong-willed terriers to weirdly obsessed Australian shepherds, they've invaded her world with boundless energy, wet noses, muddy paws and soggy tennis balls. But they've really brought so much more than that -- like laughter and joy, some unexpected life lessons, and more than a few tears along the way.

He now owns the loudest dog in the South Bay(Video: Rocket the Dog) and is the least popular person on his block. He spends his free time in dog parks, pet shops and always has an extra plastic bag in his pocket just in case. He also has a cat.
