Centinela Pet Store coupons?

What's up with Centinela Pet Store's coupons? I had my June coupons -- and had not received the July ones in the mail yet -- but when I went to use them tonight, on June 30, they said they'd "expired." I said I hadn't gotten my July ones yet and, after all, it is still June.

No go. The clerk wouldn't budge.

I wouldn't have stopped there had I not had the coupons, which I'd been carting around in my bag all month. June coupons should be good through June. Period. Wouldn't you think? Especially if a customer has not received their July coupons yet. And I think this is the second time this has happened to me at the end of a month.

I should have just left without buying anything, but I was almost out of cat food and this is a very hectic week for me, so I just paid the full price, grumbling all the while I'll admit.

Well, it's back to Global Pet Outlet for me. They're probably cheaper anyway, even when you can get Centinela to take their own coupons. Crazy. It's just not always easy for me to get to Global.

But I think I'll just make the effort from now on.

I have been buying all my pet supplies online for years. It's almost always cheaper as long as you can get free shipping which is always possible with different promotions. you can use this link to get free shppping from Entirely Pets right now which has pretty much everything you could ask for - http://bit.ly/chrYNT

I'm kind of upset due to the service from Centinela, they seem to only send out coupons every other month. It happen to both my boyfriend and I and we both live at different addresses. Is that happening to any of you guys out there too? Does anyone happen to have a coupon to spare?

I did finally get my July coupons earlier this week, around the 5th I think. As far as I know they are still monthly, you may have just been missed. But I'd contact them to let the know or go online to see if coupons are available somehow there.

OK, I just heard from Judy, one of our earlier commenters on this thread, who tells me the coupons for June (she found a copy of an ad) were good from 6-1 through 6-27. She surmised that the 3-day gap may give the store time to clear their books. Possibly, but I still say it can really be misleading and that the store (from my experience last night) is exceedingly rigid. Can you come back with your receipt & next-month's coupons after you get them for a refund or credit? Not that I was told, anyway. I guess I'll just have to remember never to shop there at the end of the month again.

Susan -- You might try calling Global and mentioning the food you use, they're pretty responsive to stocking things if they think enough people will buy it. I use Innova dry for both my dogs & the cat, which they stock (as does Centinela). But Global's prices are cheaper, although the difference is relatively small if you can use a coupon at Centinela. Sometimes it is more convenient to make a pit stop at Centinela for me since they have longer hours and I work late -- they're on the way home for me.

Thanks Judy. I did wind up spending quite a bit of money there last night and was counting on the use of the 15% off coupon. Someone just handed me their July coupons (mine haven't arrived yet in the mail) and I notice in the small print that the coupons expire "7-29-10." Seems misleading to me. If you go into the store on July 30 or 31, expect to pay full price. Unless your next-month's coupons arrive early, the store basically has a two- or three-day blackout for the use of coupons.

Centinela's mission statement is "To contribute to our customer's happiness by improving the health and quality of their pet's life." Disallowing store coupons that should be valid until the end of the stated month OR a specifically printed expiration date just doesn't make sense! The Centinela owners were extremely generous to us when we were showing orphanded, adoptable LA Animal Reg dogs in the early '90s. I think that they only had the Santa Monica store at that time. They created several huge "graft and corruption" pet treat baskets for us to give the on air news people at KTLA. Have you contacted the owners? Their policy may have changed. I, too, am a huge fan of Global Pet. The drive is worth when I have a large purchase.

Maybe the e-delivery system will be more efficient. But if the coupons for June expire before the end of the month, they should note that in easier-to-read formats. That's all I'm saying. I believe this is a policy change as the coupons used to be for the full month. Mike, thanks, but I'm quite over it. Global isn't that far from my office. Just requires a bit more planning on my end and I'm one of those planning-ahead inept people. :-)

The July coupons came via email on June 30th. Not sure if e-newsletters will be the new delivery method.

That is nuts. They should have let you use the June coupon in June. Even if you did have July's coupons.

Centinela Pet Store is expensive. More than Petsmart. I drive out of my way to go to Petsmart. If Global Pet Outlet ever started carrying the food Indy needs, I would go there.

Our coupons arrived yesterday. How much are you spending in gas to drive to Global? Get over it.
