Cosmo the Samoyed recently turned 14. Joining him at his party in Torrance were 11 Samoyeds and one Coonhound (named Rocket).

Josh's sister, Cosmo's owner, sent us these photos from the party. it really was a special occasion after their close call with Cosmo last year. He devoured nearly an entire bottle ad Advil found in his owner's purse in the middle of the night. Dogs.

First, the cake:

The honored guest, above.

And some of his guests. They all look alike to me:

That canned Cheese Whiz is good for disguising doggie pills, too. :-)

If you don't have a dog bakery near you, try making a lentil loaf in a cake pan and using that cheese whiz junk in cans for the decorating (just a little bit for the writing, don't cover the cake!).
That way it's dressing up dinner as dessert and the dogs really love lentil loaves.
I use the recipe in Dr. Pitcairn's Natural Health Care for Dogs and Cats, it's easy to modify and makes nice gifts. One person thought it was a human food gift and said it was delicious!!

The cake was purchased just for the dogs at Kool Dog Kafe in Redondo Beach. All the dogs LOVED it.

I've always loved Samoyeds, but these photos make me really really want one of my own. Adorable!!!

Adorable!

Is that a dog safe cake? Or was it just for the human guests? Is there such a thing as a dog only cake? Hmmm......

Josh's sister??? Who got to eat that cake?

About the Bloggers

Daily Breeze reporter Donna Littlejohn has shared her homes with a succession of wonderful, funny, and occasionally difficult canines -- Muffin, Fritz, Ellie, Mercy, Pilgrim and now Cowboy, an Australian shepherd-border collie, and Tess, a border collie. From strong-willed terriers to weirdly obsessed Australian shepherds, they've invaded her world with boundless energy, wet noses, muddy paws and soggy tennis balls. But they've really brought so much more than that -- like laughter and joy, some unexpected life lessons, and more than a few tears along the way.
