Holy scarf

cowboy.jpgI love Cowboy. Really I do. He's one of the best behaved dogs I've ever had.

But he does have one bad habit.

Virtually every long winter scarf I own now has one of these:

Loofah lunch?

I was cleaning out the bathroom yesterday and tossed an old loofah into the trash bag, deciding it was time to replace it.

But returning home after running some errands, I discovered the loofah wand had been dragged out of the closed trash bag and was now lying on the living room floor -- sans the attached loofah sponge.

It was nowhere to be found.

Hmmm.

Either Tess or Cowboy, I concluded, had probably eaten the fibrous, natural sponge. Twenty-four hours later, they both appear to be fine. Maybe it's just been buried somewhere in the backyard.

If one of them did eat it, a friend told me, "It'll turn up eventually. In one form or another."

What's the weirdest things your dog has eaten?

About the Bloggers

Daily Breeze reporter Donna Littlejohn has shared her homes with a succession of wonderful, funny, and occasionally difficult canines -- Muffin, Fritz, Ellie, Mercy, Pilgrim and now Cowboy, an Australian shepherd-border collie, and Tess, a border collie. From strong-willed terriers to weirdly obsessed Australian shepherds, they've invaded her world with boundless energy, wet noses, muddy paws and soggy tennis balls. But they've really brought so much more than that -- like laughter and joy, some unexpected life lessons, and more than a few tears along the way.

Josh Grossberg grew up with the usual array of animals: goldfish, dogs, hamsters, parakeets and turtles. He now owns the loudest dog in the South Bay(Video: Rocket the Dog) and is the least popular person on his block. He spends his free time in dog parks, pet shops and always has an extra plastic bag in his pocket just in case. He also has a cat.
