Kids and pets: June 2010 Archives
Late last year, Rosie & her daughter Nirvana, friends of mine from the dog park, decided to adopt a guinea pig, Mr. Nibbles. They loved the guinea pig. But I guess they figured there might be room for one more critter, so they've now adopted another family member: Buddy, a very cute (really, is there any other kind?) grey kitten.

So far, it seems that Buddy is getting along OK with Mr. Nibbs.

From experience, I can say there are few creatures that are funnier than cats.

And I also know that Buddy has a very good home. Looks like he knows it, too.
Since this is "kitten season," there are lots more just like Buddy out there who need good homes right now. Check with the shelters or rescue groups. One of my favorites is the Peter Zippi Fund for Animals. But there is also South Bay Cats, Purrfect Partners, People and Cats Together and a host of others in the South Bay area.

I love his white "boots." Kittens play hard and sleep hard.
Congratulations!

Daily Breeze reporter Donna Littlejohn has shared her homes with a succession of wonderful, funny, and occasionally difficult canines -- Muffin, Fritz, Ellie, Mercy, Pilgrim and now Cowboy, an Australian shepherd-border collie, and Tess, a border collie. From strong-willed terriers to weirdly obsessed Australian shepherds, they've invaded her world with boundless energy, wet noses, muddy paws and soggy tennis balls. But they've really brought so much more than that -- like laughter and joy, some unexpected life lessons, and more than a few tears along the way.
