Latino poll power?

With the future of immigration policy a major campaign issue in a number of House and Senate races around the country, the National Council of La Raza is reporting this morning that half of Latino voters claim to be "more enthusiastic" about voting in today's midterm elections than in previous elections.

The survey of 1,050 registered and likely Latino voters found that 75 percent rated their interest in today's election between 8 and 10. That's up from a September survey in which 56 percent of surveyed Latinos rated their interest as high.

Immigration, however, doees not appear to be the driving issue for most Latinos. According to the poll, only 9 percent cited it as their top concern, with a majority ranking Iraq, the economy and jobs higher.
