Voter Education

For the few immigrants that immigrant rights groups have managed to sign up as voters, there's still got a long way to go.
At Hermandad Mexicana in Van Nuys, a 55-year-old, Mexican-born mother of seven American-born children prepared for her first trip to an American ballot box Tuesday afternoon.
Studying the sample ballot, she looked up at ther friend.
"Are these the propositions," she asked pointing to the numbers alligned with each choice.
Her friend leaned over, looked at the ballot.
"No, I don't think so but ask."
"I am going to vote but I don't know what I am doing," the mother said, shaking her head.
