Here's something to cheer about, I guess.

A group called SustaineLane Government, identifying itself as the leading source of information on these sorts of things, ranked Los Angeles as the seventh best city in the nation when it comes to renewable energy sources.

The group said it looked at 50 major U.S. Cities and ranked them based on their use of renewable energy in city operations.

Heading the list was Oakland, with 17 percent of its electricity coming from renewable sources.
Los Angeles had 5 percent renewables, trailing several other California cities, including, Sacramento, San Francisco and San Jose. Also doing a better job are Portland, Or., Boston , MA, and Austin, Tx.
