No gifts for lawmakers

| | Comments (0) |

State lawmakers would be banned from accepting gifts under a ballot measure that is now being circulated for signatures. The measure would prohibit lobbyists or organizations that use them from giving anything to legislators. If lawmakers attend a symposium or conference sponsored by a lobbyist or trade organization, they would have to use public funds to pay the cost of their attendance. The proponent has until Oct. 11 to gather 694,354 valid signatures to place the measure on the ballot.
