Simi Valley: Center of the Republican Universe tonight

The top ten contenders for the Republican presidential nomination will face off tonight in their first major campaign debate of the year.

The event includes Sam Brownback, Jim Gilmore, Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, Duncan Hunter, John McCain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Tom Tancredo and Tommy Thompson and is scheduled from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

MSNBC Hardball host Chris Matthews will moderate, and the debate will be televised on MSNBC cable, with coverage also on www.MSNBC.com. The Politico will stream the debate live on www.politico.com, providing the opportunity for viewers to question the candidates.
