Let the (TV) campaign begin

With absentee ballots going out today for the Feb. 5 election, the television wars are starting for various campaigns.

The Indian tribes have been on the air for the past several weeks promoting their feel-good spots toward the tribes as well as using Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on behalf of the four years on the ballot expanding gaming at their casinos.

Now, the Sacramento Bee reports, commercials are going up on both sides of the the term limits initiative.

The only question left is can the presidential candidates be far behind?

At a cost of roughly $2 million a week to get the full advantage of a statewide television buy, it might be a case of only the wealthiest of candidates can afford to go on the air this early.'
