Rove's reputation is intact

He may have gone all fair and balancy now that he's doing color commentary on Fox News election coverage, but Karl Rove can't shake his smarmy political past.
"60 Minutes" on Sunday brings front and center one textbook case of underhanded behavior that has Rove's fingerprints all over it.
Jill Simpson, a Republican operative in Alabama, is attesting to Rove's work in the political demise and ultimate imprisonment of Democratic Gov. Don Siegelman. Simpson tells CBS' Scott Pelley about Rove's strategy in 2001, when he was President Bush's political adviser.
“Karl Rove asked you to take pictures of Siegelman?” asks Pelley.
“Yes,” replies Simpson.
“In a compromising, sexual position with one of his aides,” clarifies Pelley.
“Yes, if I could,” Simpson says. She goes on to say she was unable to witness any behavior on the governor's part suggesting infidelity in months of observation. As for the bribery conviction that resulted in Siegelman's prison term, 52 former attorneys general have asked for a congressional investigation.
Grant Woods, the former Republican attorney general of Arizona, is among those petitioners.
"I haven’t seen a case with this many red flags on it that pointed towards a real injustice being done,” he tells Pelley. “I personally believe that what happened here is that they targeted Don Siegelman because they could not beat him fair and square.”
The complete story is in Sunday's installment at 7 p.m. Yeah, we know it's Oscar night, but this is what TiVo is for, right?
